i don't exactly know myself but it's probably more about the rest of the show bending to make him look good than him as a character. if i had to rewrite the show i would put the spear hero into naofumi's party so the heroes are two man teams(of course the spear hero's reputation gets fucked too because he stays with naofumi), remove the children and boost everyone's iq by about 20 points so i dont feel like the show is violently jerking naofumi off all the time. the other characters barely had time to shine.

They're purposely retarded to show how being a hero isn't an easy life and you just can't one shot everything. The other 3 are weak because they use their same moves every time thinking that what they're facing is a level 1 monster when in reality the monsters have so much health that their lvl 50 basic skill does no damage on the monsters.

It's basically like playing an MMO only using the basic skill that you learned at Lvl1 and then leveling it to your current lvl and you ignore the other stronger skills. Naofumi's difference is that he took the other stronger skills as he leveled up. Sure you can use your lvl50 basic skill on normal mobs but the Wave mini-bosses and bosses are on another level.

See how the heroes from the other worlds have much varied skils and how their varied skills do so much damage?

Nao wanted no monopoly he literally had a meeting with them to discuss getting stronger and they just chimped on each other so he gave up. He had to buy a slave as insurance it wouldnt betray him due to Malty mentally breaking him.

The other heroes are literally too stupid to use other skills because they can either can't unlock them or they don't know how to do it. Take for example Naofumi's Shield skills interface - it literally shows him that he can use the remnants of monsters that he defeated to upgrade his shield. The other heroes presumably don't know about that mechanic because they're too busy jobbing by repeatedly using the 1 skill they learned since the beginning. It's likay playing an MMORPG blind and you don't have access to the help menu or the tutorial - the other 3 faggots are like the dumb kids that you see on MMORPGs only using 1 skill because they skipped through tutorial or they didn't discover on their own the other available skills. In their world, the other skills are only unlocked presumably by doing certain attack combos and they didn't bother to learn those.

So logically he would need to demonstrate that it worked to them and chose not to despite it being glaringly obvious that it would be impossible to use the power up methods without demonstrating that they really do work. I won't rule out sheer idiocy on his part, but I find it extremely convenient that he got to be the only one able to use all four methods as a result of the meeting.

At least until naofumi saved her with the medicine. You could consider that art one of the many tools that one could oppose the waves with so in the eyes of those behind the waves, it had to go.

In their world, the mechanics are different. It's like you didn't watch the first 5 episodes when Naofumi himself explained that the typical RPG mechanics don't work in their world the way it works in games. Some mechanics are similar but the important ones aren't.

It does seem like Naofumi is stronger because reasons, but we also see he's far more adaptable because he took the time to actually work on his skills and shield, whereas the other heroes just took what they wanted and focused on the big moves (hence all of them using meteor strike as their go to moves, for instance). I loved the group fight last episode.
A lot of team play going on back and forth it felt like the most genuine fight so far and I'd love to see a show built with those kinds of battles happening a lot.

Raphtalia and Filo both get almost the same focus, but Raphtalia is closer to Naofumi. Filo has her own thing being the next queen and hanging out with Melty.
But besides that time they went to her town Raphtalia is 100% about Naofumi.
And they are already looking kind of like a couple.
It's not truly a story about those two but there's some of that.

I THINK Filo will stay in the world she is right now because she will be that world's next queen.

They won't beat Glass and her party, the fight will end in a draw of sorts.

Another hero from Glass's world will take control of a mayor beast on Naofumi's world to kill millions of people and take their souls to use as energy.

Glass and her party wants to kill him too because you can't use a weapon for personal gain through genocide. Glass and Naofumi join forces to defeat him but he escapes to Glass's world with the energy (souls) he collected.

Naofumi and everyone but the knight girl and the kung fu grandma will go to Glass's world to take revenge on that guy and recover the energy.

Long story short Raphtalia becomes the hero of the katana of Glass's world, Naofumi kills the guy and retrieve the energy. Also the whole "kill heroes from another world to save yours" is not totally confirmed to work so Glass and her party will stop trying to kill Naofumi.

Ah so you're saying the other heroes only use the other forms for a tiny amount of time while Naofumi keeps his forms active and grinds them.

The difference is mostly the intention. In both the WN and LN, the waves don't happen because eventually there must be one stable and single universe, In the LN it was made so for the entertainment of the masterminds behind the waves. in then WN was mostly to reap worlds and becoming stronger. Worlds sometimes end up merging, which means the hero count in each resulting world increases. Besides they only seem to target worlds that function like videogames for some reason.

They do unlock some of them so they could use skills while equipping other weapon forms but they generally don't bother unsealing every single other weapon they get.

Motoyatsu is STILL using the meteor spear/skills he got from the castle armoury in his spinoff despite being lv 300+.

The meteor skills are pretty nice(meteor shield) and remember that motoyasu strengthened those skills and what not. and he does use other skills, besides BRIONAC! isn't something that can be gotten so early.

The XXX series of weapons that could actually harm Medea were unlocked via the heroes finding some ancient temple and inserting the Dude's (furry god that Naofumi later runs into and is bro's with) blood that had been conveniently left there into the weapons. I don't recall how they affected Raph and the others too outside of Firo gaining immortality, but it's probably bullshit reasons since none of the other heroes got to spontaneously gain immortality.

It kind of requires you running nonstop inside the void in between worlds with a very fucked perception of time while you practice your magic.

But if that's how it works, then why are they not dead from the time it took before they managed to actually CULTIVATE? Or starvation, thirst, heart attacks, asphyxiation from being in an almost endless void, and thousands of other dangers? If that's the trick then why can't you just practice via shooting yourself into space for a day or two? This brings more questions than answers.
