Shonen isn't a genre but outside of that shonen is aimed at like 8-14 year old boys and power fantasies like that with superpowers appeal a lot to that age group. Not all shonen are like that since shonen is a demographic and not a genre but the most popular shonen series are battle shonen, which is what you're talking about.

If you don't like it go find some shonen that aren't battle shonen or, since I imagine you're not 14 years old, you could go read seinen/josei manga, which I'd imagine are much more varied (seinen at least). Hell, shojo manga might appeal to you since while it's also aimed at younger people it will have its own things that are common that will be new to you.
