More like subplots. The cucking was everywhere. Ikuno and Ichigo, Ichigo and Hiro, Futoshi and Koroko...if you want to stretch it, Franxx's wife since he didn't really love her, but did love the princess, although that was posthumously from her perspective.

I just watched it for the first time (actually my first anime) and I really liked it but the ending was so weird it almost feels like it didn't count.

Trigger keeps trying to replicate Gurren Lagann.
They keep failing to produce characters that can carry a show like Kamina and Simon did.
They tried for a bittersweet ending for the main couple and the primary waifu of the show, where a happy ending would have made more sense.
The only memorable character is 02, and they basically killed her arc right as the show peaked.
They made aliens the big threat again even though there was never any hint that aliens were involved for 3/4 of the series, just to try make the ending as badass as GL.

They should have left the bittersweet to one of the side cast. Have Goro sacrifice himself Kittan style maybe.
Keep it on earth, no aliens, we fucked up ourselves. That way when the cast fix things, it actually means something for humanity.
02 and Hiro should complete their arc.

Turns out that if you're writing an anime with a plot-heavy story, you have to actually finish it before the air date.

>lolaliens and complete change of plot halfway
>ripping off TTGL and Gunbuster in the final episodes (I literally predicted that they would do the Gunbuster ending)

If there was one word that could sum up this trainwreck best it would probably be "uninspired". I only kept watching because the cuck drama was kinda hilarious. I couldn't even bring myself to care enough about the boring setting to be angry at the shitty lolaliens "twist", in the end the only thing that genuinely pissed me off was the blatant ripping off of other mecha (probably under the guise of "muh homage"), especially the ending.

It started pretty good then kinda went to meh near the end. Most good anime/shows do this.

Do people forget the shitshow that the end of the original EVA reaction was? A "End of DitF" is a potential money printer come to think of it.

Ever since the ending, i seen very few people who would sincerely say they loved.
The ending pissed many people off, because the payoff is terrilbe after 19 episodes of build up

The original reaction to EVA was bad, but if you go watch it today, you can see a thematic through line. It makes SOME sense.
DitF was just a betrayal of most of its own themes.

And you are forgetting something really important:
Anno knew EoTV was flawed because of lack of time, thus he wanted to make a new ending, EoE.
Niggergori on the other hand actually thinks DitF ending is great and that there is nothing to improve on. Because he is a retard.

Still pisses me off how much of a 180 this anime took. Great 1st half and then you just wonder how it turned into what it did towards the end. I'm still mad when i think about this anime.

if only they would have gone the rebellion arc they had hinted at in forever then maybe the last episode introduce the VIRM and they peace out with all the immortal humans souls saying something like they will be back. Then leave it open for a season 2 that will never happen ala gainax style that they are trying to emulate.

I thought is was funny as shit that the fat dude got cucked, and I thought the semen demon was hot as fuck, almost as hot as Haruko. I might just be biased because I saw scene of pic related as a kid and awakened my power to be turned on by anime bitches.
