Only places that's going to promote post scarcity in labor are police states like China, mostly the Greater Tokyo area in Japan. and maybe UAE and Saudi Arabia, or places where Unions don't have any political power.

At this point Retsuko can't really be said to have a consistent character. She doesn't consider Haida because that's not easy writing and might risk some kind of closure or change to the status quo.
