Detective Conan

Remember, Shinichi undresses Ran with his eyes 24/7.

This scene was incredible and made a lot of jaws drop in Japan. Shinichi's lust for Ran is not really at a normal level because of how obsessed he is with everything about her day in day out for years on end. Basically he is yandere for her.
For him being Ransexual is not just a meme, it's a way of life.

Attached: 1530258867340.jpg (2603x3661, 698K)

He has great taste.

Attached: ran changing.jpg (976x1600, 654K)

He does. Though he's also lucky that the preschooler loli whose smile he fell in love with grew into such a beauty.

Explain the helmet to me.

If it wasn't for their eye color they would look like siblings.

Attached: e5d6868eb4208fb5ebca66e53f6c43c0.jpg (700x913, 153K)

It's not a helmet, just a bucket hat that many preschools/kindergartens have the kids wear, often in yellow.

Attached: 1556676799746.jpg (690x440, 79K)

does the hair knot on the back of Shinichi's head ever get undone?

They are so close since early childhood that they're practically like NBR siblings. That's a big part of their appeal to me.

Attached: 1558729382272.png (800x853, 635K)

It's not a knot, it's just that the hair growing in the whorl on the back of his head sticks straight out.

One Piece is more likely to end first before we see these two fucking.
Welp, at least ken nailing touka happened.

Based.

This series seems closer to ending than One Piece. They toss percentages of completion around but it doesn't matter because 20% to 60% can happen in like 30 chapters but 60% to 61% can happen in like 500. There's no rule to the pacing in anything.

At the very least Conan is halfway over for sure.

Gosho better not die before Shinichi and Ran can get married.

I recall reading a list of "Characters people wish would break up" or something from Japanese anime/manga, and Ran/Shinichi were #1. Why does Japan hate her?

Those polls are easily brigaded. Ran is hated by fujos who think Shinichi only deserves to be fucked in the ass by the rest of the male cast, or bitter CoAifags. Normalfag Japanese fans still like her.

There's even going to be a Shinichi x Ran-themed JR train.

Attached: 1533315445786.jpg (1024x354, 59K)

Cool, a giant version of the desperate revival art.

I wish I could see it in person.

At least you'll never get near the Kaito portion.

Yeah, I have no interest in that part of the train.

>memories of sakura class

>that chapter of him trying to protect ran from a potential pedo

Cute chapter.

Attached: cruise.jpg (960x720, 167K)

I want Sera to lose patients with Conan and to actively try to make him tell her how he can change age.

And then there will be an intervention by glasses and Conan will tell her to spill what she knows as payment.

Then Mother and Daughter will go to the house and revelations and drugs will be had by all and everyone will be on the same page.

And then the endgame starts as Maria said to Sera in a previous chapter that once they could reverse the process, they could stop running and strike back.

Early Shinichi is so handsome.

Attached: 1553216048768.jpg (434x624, 94K)

Had he not noticed Gin and Vodka at Tropical Land, the series would have been a harem/detective series as Shinichi tries to solve mysteries while fighting girls off with a stick.

Ran would still win, but it would be more drawn out

Yea, and he really pulls off the suit. The decision for that to be his and Conan's main outfit was a great one, it's very pleasing to the eye.

Speaking of eyes, what I notice most often about him and others in the older episodes is how the eye style was done during the cel era. It's practically the same as the modern version but most of the time it still manages to look miles better. The lines of the art between cel and digital just aren't the same. They do some good closeup shots sometimes in the modern episodes, I remember a few good ones of Haibara, but Shinichi has it pretty rough these days. Almost every closeup in the cel era looked great. Now they usually only do good and detailed ones for emotional moments instead of giving many non-moving shots more detail. You'd think the streamlined production of going digital would give them more time for stuff like this but I guess they're going the other direction, do it as fast as possible anyway and save even more time. The CGI vehicles at random seem to be good reasoning that its the latter, even the movies are taking shortcuts and needing things fixed for bluray too much.

Attached: night.jpg (960x1085, 242K)

It basically already is a harem, what with Ayumi, Haibara, Sera, plus one-shot girls like Asami-senpai and that older actress lady who had a crush on him.

But I was thinking about that the other day. All the attention Kogoro gets from women as the Sleeping Kogoro is what Shinichi would be getting x10 if he were in his own body. He would enjoy the attention but it would be pretty irritating for Ran and make her feel insecure. He'd have to reassure her that she's the only one for him, maybe by proposing to her.

Attached: 1558022852201.jpg (960x720, 80K)

Do you literally have to watch every episode to get into this series?

There are guides on what to skip, add the best of lists to that and you have a decently long series with good filler.

What madman would read/watch it all?

Shinichi should always wear a suit, somehow dressing a bit formally, wearing outfits with collared dress shirts, etc, seems appropriate for his character and also for being a detective.

Line quality is something that most digital anime don't do very well except for the productions that make an effort to emulate an analog look. When they painted the lines on cels by hand they could achieve very subtle effects in line weight that look so much better than what they can do with the thick American comic book-style digital brushes they're using for the modern episodes.

I wouldn't say the eye style is the same though, the eyes are more angular in the modern style especially on the bottom edge. The character designs used to have more curves all around.

Attached: 1550976574004.jpg (960x720, 284K)

Just use the season guide
detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/Season_1

It tells you to the right whether its a manga adaption or a TV original. The early fillers are great and I personally couldn't tell them from the canon cases during the cel era. I started skipping them a bit after the series went digital but I plan to go back to them eventually. If you choose to skip filler from the beginning you leave yourself open to the option of going back in the future to early styles and experiencing new stories with them. I'd have done that but the cases were too good. I think the filler around the digital change is still good, I had just decided I wanted to leave stuff to watch whenever I caught up.

Attached: conan head pats.jpg (382x493, 108K)

Are you counting the adapted manga cases without overarching plot as filler or just made-for-anime ones?

Just made for the anime. I understand the mindset but I don't consider non-plot as filler usually, especially since the primary purpose of Conan is the episodic cases. Him being shrunken down is just the vessel to tell the story of a teen detective in the body of a child without it just being that way, despite the fact that the plot does matter and gradually progresses. If it was 95% plot and 5% unrelated cases then I might use the more loose definition of filler.

Yea I was remembering a specific instance in a modern episode where the eyes were classic-ish, Now I remember actually bringing up the difference of eye design once where it was noticeable between a current OP and a remastered episode together. In fact them doing that at all highlights how rough everyone can look now unless its one of the few weaker oldest styles where it makes whatever modern characters you see look amazing by comparison.

Attached: 052.jpg (640x478, 78K)

>unless its one of the few weaker oldest styles where it makes whatever modern characters you see look amazing by comparison.
It's hard to imagine the modern characters ever looking amazing with the current style.
At least Shinichi still looked cute even in the Ogawara episodes. But that whole era was kind to him in my eyes.

Attached: 1531336219126.jpg (640x480, 72K)

I meant to select this image. Even this sort of design is still preferable to me than the current style.

Attached: 1532621968758.jpg (640x480, 49K)

I think select scenes from Ogawara looked alright but I always tend to remember the worse stuff right off. I've said it before at some point but his episodes' style can be enjoyed in a very old/classic anime style way at times, I think Ayumi looked pretty cute in some bits through the Library case. I don't remember Shinichi ever getting hit with a particularly ugly shot even in his episodes.

Attached: anime manga.jpg (582x316, 60K)

Yea that doesn't even look that bad. Even next to his sort of wonky Conan in the same shot Shinichi looks alright.

Attached: 162.jpg (1280x960, 266K)

I really like that particular shot of him even if it is by Ogawara who was responsible for a lot of quality. But it includes the huge ears and chins that I associate with early Conan, and to be honest helped attract me to the characters back when I was first exposed to the series. That's a unique style that I find really cute and sexy, and I missed it when it was gone a few seasons later.
Even in that shot you posted the ears were already normal-sized.

Attached: 1537888269546.jpg (960x720, 287K)

ran is old and busted. haibara is where its at

It depends how I feel, I go back and forth between certain girls but I still like them all. Haibara has that sexy look with how her hair and eyes are. Kazuha has that cute bow. Ran has that nice /ss/ potential but also her shy personality (or the other one that takes over with the tomboyish stuff). I'm only ever into Sera if I get the urge for a flat chest and fang.

Does his body actually burn/smoke during a Conan transition or is it an anime viewer visual cue type thing? Like when Ran is naked but not really because it's a metaphor for being vulnerable.

Friendly reminder.

Attached: 1471880682940.png (850x1230, 315K)

I always wondered how women of Japan wear stuff that can easily make their panties seen and just don't mind until something happens. It's like being a 12 year old boy with shorts that do not hide boners at all.

>Ran has that nice /ss/ potential but also her shy personality (or the other one that takes over with the tomboyish stuff)
Ran's gap moe is what I like about her, how she seems assertive and tomboyish on the outside, but is actually shy and sensitive, the same crybaby little girl she was in preschool when she met Shinichi. I just want to comfort her when she's sad and lonely.

I still wish she would /ss/ with Conan more.

Attached: 1550251888068.jpg (2380x3475, 727K)

Yeah, but can Conan spot the difference this time if Kaito disguises himself as Ran again?

>Conan can tell Ran's thighs just by looking at them
I wonder if he touched himself to this memory later on.

God that picture is great, there's so much secondary material out there with exclusive art. I'd love to have it all. I was going to say he looked like the Countdown to Heaven style but I checked the episodes in the description and they were actually during 2002, same year as Baker Street, and very closely released to it in the same month.

Attached: 512588A63JL.jpg (341x475, 60K)

Ah fuck speaking of Baker Street I just found another trailer for it with never used footage. I fucking love finding stuff like this. It makes me wonder how many exclusive scenes have been lost to time. It's just so amazingly cool to discover stuff like this to me.

Attached: baker street scenes.jpg (610x1032, 169K)

Stuff like this makes me want to collect all Conan home media for more chances to find trailer footage. Anything, even laserdiscs.

Attached: baker street scenes2.jpg (616x691, 110K)

This one was too great to just post an image of. I guess I can add this to that old Google Drive folder with rerun material later. I think I intended to add remastered Nazo and its accompanying ED to that too but never did.

The series won’t end before 1500 chapters

Can Aoyama live that long?

>What madman would read/watch it all?
>he didn't
seriously user....

Each chapter will consist of a 17 pages of dot points, with each page being the outline of a whole case.

We will then have to wait for the anime to adapt the ending

Attached: original.gif (500x375, 1019K)

The first gag after Shinichi is revealed to be Conan at the dramatic finale is for Ran to get extremely angry at him for all the times he was mothered by her/ would of seen her exposed because she thought he was too young.

Isn't it fine because they're dating now?

I want Ran to become a shotacon.

I want Shinichi to become a lolicon, taking care shrank Ran.

I want this too.

She bathes with him a lot.

Not a lot, he said it was only a few times at the beginning.

I want Haibara to ...

fall in love with a 7 year old boy.

Only natural

Attached: Ran towel.jpg (1280x720, 312K)

Yeah, but they weren't dating at the time. They only started to date very recently in manga time.

Shinichi was obsessing one-sidedly over Ran for 13 years, memorizing every inch of her body, definitely fapping to her on a regular basis as soon as he was old enough to. It must have been tough for him, waiting so long for her to move him out of the friendzone. It puts their relationship in the very first episode/chapter into perspective.

That aquarium scene shocked a lot of people because it revealed how inappropriate Shinichi was towards Ran long before they were dating, and he didn't seem to have any awareness of how stalkerish he was being. But I guess all of that fits into how his personality is in general.

Is doing a reading of the entire manga worth it? Or should I just watch the anime from episode one? I kinda want to get back into Conan.

It will take much less time and give you a more coherent overview of the plot if you read the manga since the anime includes so many anime original episodes and moved the canon episodes around, and changed things in the adaptations.

what the fuck are you on about?

fuck off

>Is doing a reading of the entire manga worth it?
yes
>Or should I just watch the anime from episode one?
manga first, then anime

doesn't the anime do a good job adapting it? I can see that it has the decency to tell you that an episode came from the manga.

They change stuff in the first season.

in the first arc, they changed some cases (shinkansen bombing, akemi robbery), then in vermouth's arc, they don't adapt the major clue that indicating jodie isn't vermouth. their ost, op, ed are one of the best among animes, also the voice acting. "good job" describes what anime did, but it's not great either. one thing when anime is superior than manga when there's a rope and knot tricks, it's just hard to picture it only from manga.

>this thread is still alive
why

alright dont meme it

If you want to discuss something then do it. What you've been doing doesn't change anything. I hear more about what shouldn't be discussed in Conan threads than I do about what people have been wanting but apparently not getting. Too many people gripe that these threads don't want to discuss the plot of the series but that's fucking stupid, we get a lot of plot discussion, it's just that the regulars in these threads have nothing new to say on the topic, others should talk about it and a conversation can start even involving regulars, if it's just regulars then there's no room for more of it until we get more material.

The only time I agreed recently was when the new chapter came out but there was minimal discussion, but some in these threads aren't caught up and there wasn't much to discuss with this one new chapter. Conan threads' cuteposting isn't anything new, this is just how they are, and it stems from it being easier than trying to manage new things to discuss with people who have been here the entire time and talked about what plot we have.

Whether it's shitposting or not that's for anyone being pissy over the threads, I see people complaining outside of Conan threads because of this stuff too, mostly Amurofags.

>your breats

bumping at page 10 every time doesn't help anything either, except encourage general circlejerking

What the fuck is circlejerking in this context?

If you don't like the threads or offer anything you want to see in them, you don't have to be in them.

Attached: conanedogawa.jpg (734x550, 101K)

I didn't even notice. I wonder if that was before whoever the scanlation group is waited a week before putting out their version.

It's kind of funny that despite getting to him, Kazuha crying wasn't enough to break through his deductive personality. I think Ran crying would have stopped Conan/Kudo.

Attached: kazuha heiji.png (615x463, 513K)

So sorry your /r9k/ thread about how you'll never get a moe waifu will have to wait its turn.

After films 1-4, I think I liked 4 best. On to 5!

Enjoy. I can't pick favorites because my tastes in certain aspects change every day. The only thing that stays consistent is my love for the cute.

This is like the 3rd time in a row he's complained. I wouldn't be surprised if when he eventually stops someone takes the mantle either for shitposting or just because the seed has been planted already.

Attached: haibara.png (822x716, 767K)

What the fuck is with their noses?!

Yea, it is distracting sometimes and it's very disappointing. I can handle the way it's done facing forward but from the side sometimes it's just too much now. I wish they'd get someone new for the anime in regards to design, the manga usually isn't as bad.

It never used to be this bad.

I agree. I've thought about this before, but the two couples relate to each other pretty differently. Part of that may have to do with the fact that Heiji only just realized he was in love with Kazuha not too long ago; before that she was only a childhood playmate for him.
In contrast, Shinichi has been in love with Ran for a very long time, so he's grown up to be a lot more sensitive to Ran's feelings than Heiji is to Kazuha's. (And maybe Shinichi is just the more sensitive one of the two guys; my impression of Heiji is that he's rather tennen.)

Attached: 1547232936311.jpg (2161x1527, 746K)

I love 4 too. But it's still hard to pick between that and 1 and 2. They're all wonderful.

Attached: 1546239352544.webm (1916x1038, 954K)

Nice webm, I was wanting to make one of this scene for awhile but kept forgetting. The bonking is hilarious.

2 was great, but so was 1. I tend to like it when it's harder to tell whodunnit, that's why I enjoyed 4. During viewing, I only once briefly considered the psychiatrist as the culprit, knowing Ran's every move and also being seen leering by Haibara and Conan at the hospital. I was also surprised to see the typical amnesia plot being done, yet I loved how it was done here while I tend not to enjoy it elsewhere.
Now that I think about it, 3's whodunnit wasn't terribly apparent either. But I loved it because I love big castles with hidden passages.

Attached: conan.png (1280x720, 1023K)

The ending was awesome, when Conan repeated the phrase.

Attached: salute.jpg (848x480, 58K)

Fuck yeah.

The whodunnits usually aren't the main draw for me when it comes to DC. I already guessed the villain in movie 4 when they showed the psychiatrist dialing the cordless phone with his left hand about halfway through. What I liked about that movie was the tight script, the romance, and Conan getting to show off his manly side more than usual.

If they're going to keep on making Conan movies, I'd like to see another movie made in that vein. No more humiliation or letting other characters steal the limelight. Just let Conan be his badass self and find some creative excuse to let him show off in front of his girl.

Attached: 1547454097779.jpg (1916x1038, 284K)

Do the films start to drop in quality, and at what point? you sharp bastard, I missed that. I guessed 1&2, dunno if I recall guessing 3.

There is a very noticeable difference between Baker Street and Ancient Capital. I'm not that user but the only movie I for sure like the least is Zero the Enforcer which is all the way to the 22nd film. I think Ancient Capital is similar to Last Wizard, I like both but I dunno what it is that keeps them from being my absolute favorites, it's not Heiji, he's cool. I think in the teens is where I start hearing people say it gets boring, maybe even starting with 10, I'd have to check the list. I think the action aspect starts kicking up with Movie 13, Raven Chaser.

Ah, I saw it earlier this year and it was horrible (22). I think I recall watching 10 and enjoying it, but that was ten years ago. 1-5 are gone from my memory at this point, and since they're remastered I had to give it a go.

The movies ramp up the action over time and the recent ones are very action-heavy with some ridiculous stunts. Starting with movie 20 they begin to heavily feature Amuro and Akai to draw in the fujoshi audience and that's especially apparent with movie 22. The most recent movie 23 was the first one with a female director and included a lot of fan service with Kid and a cuckolding scene that was very controversial both here and in Japan. That one isn't out on video yet though, so we're relying on secondhand reports from people who have seen it in theaters.

Is the manga or anime a better starting point for this franchise.

Why does the Zero song sound good in the short version on youtube but like ass in the movie and other releases, even the short segment in the youtube video sounds awful in other releases. It has a good tune that doesn't translate through to the weaker versions.

I guessed the villain in movie 3 too because her name is a dead giveaway if you know how to pronounce it in Mandarin Chinese. Also her hair is colored grey which anime always reserves for Russian or Finnish characters for some reason. I can't remember if I guessed who it was in movies 1 or 2 because I rewatched those so many times.
Usually I'm pretty good at picking up clues on who the culprit is in the movies or anime original cases, but I'm not good at guessing their method or motive. And canon cases tend to be more difficult. Gosho knows how to put in more red herrings than the anime writers do.

Attached: 1544827219235.jpg (1916x1038, 204K)

I can't remember ever guessing which culprit was who because I saw the series when I was younger and wasn't trying, and on rewatches I usually remembered. When I started binging unseen episodes when I was older I only tried a couple times and one was just a guess based on introductions where that woman in one case was trying to figure out some guy from her past and it was her butler.

manga. always.

I wonder what would hurt Ran more. Losing Shinichi or Conan?

What Conan lacks in time spent with her he makes up for in being a child, I'd say equal pain. Please don't make me think about such devastating things. I'm glad this isn't the type of manga where the MC could ever die because Conan (or Shinichi) dying would hurt a lot.

It wouldn't surprise me anymore if the manga ends with Shinichi deciding to live as Conan.

Aoyama already said he goes back to himself and there's a marriage between him and Ran probably also something about Takagi and Sato getting married meaning one has to leave the force or relocate.

Heiji's mom is where all classy things at.

Did Shinichi ever get amnesia and forgot who he was? It'd be "fun" if he ever started thinking he's a 7 years old for real.

Movie 25 material. Conan gets injured really bad and it fucks up his head and Haibara and the others that know his identity have to help him remember he's Shinichi without revealing it to everyone else. Gotta get that Conan abuse in.

I don't understand why that one episode with everyone scaring Mitsuhiko was so dickish, I understand they pulled a prank and then it went too far, but then he ran away crying and everyone laughed and Conan didn't even seem to think that was dickish. I don't think Ayumi kissing him is enough to gloss over this.

Read The Manga

Be careful and don't burn out.

Do dying messages even happen outside of detective fiction? They’re common in DC which had me wondering

Most killers don't leave time for their victims to have dying messages.

Three words: "Omar m'a tuer". To this day, the Omar Raddad case is still unsolved. It is still not proven whether it was written by the victim or forged by a killer trying (and succeeding) to frame him. The grammatical errors in the phrase (it should read "Omar m'a tué") make it doubtful the educated victim would have written the message. Yet no-one can prove this definitively.
