You've reached a bit in your conclusion and painted Will in a worse light than she needed to be, but the core message is more or less true. When you think about it, while Will is looking out for Touma and wanted to do the best for him, she did mention the card she was keeping in the back pocket to push him into action, just in case he didnt. So it's hard to say she was willing to sacrifice everything for him when she had no plans to let herself die. (To be fair though, dying wasn't really in Touma's best interests either so there's not a lot of motive for her to do so)

This is one reason I can't buy into Othinus being Touma's understander. A lot of what she says is stuff other characters could believably infer about him, or seems to come from a place of wisdom due to her age. Even Othinus herself states that she's able to understand him because she was saved by him, so there isn't even a particularly special reason for her "understanding," she just happens to always be the one there to say something because she's basically his pet bird now.

Make no mistake, I think most of the stuff Othinus tells him is good advice for him, but I don't think it's particularly special only-I-could-have-figured-this-out understander type of stuff.

I think the point of being an Understander is not just being able to understand someone, but to accept everything about that person both good and bad and support them no matter what. And I think the problem is that it's not very balanced. Touma can be anyone's understander. He can even be Aleister's understander, as he has the right aptitude for it.

It probably just means that the 1/10 was pulled out of someone's ass and wasn't actual proper data, even of men who think the child isn't theirs.

That's not wrong, but it's not right either. Touma can probably accept and support everything about a lot of people now, but it's not just accepting them, it's accepting AND understanding them. That's where the billion hells come in in Othinus's case.

Othinus says she figures this stuff out because she was saved as a nice way to reference the time she bullied him to suicide. She pretty much gets triggered from actual mentions of it so she sugar coats it. Aleister is one of the only other people who would figure out half the stuff Othinus did. Mikoto was literally right next to Touma in NT13 and watched it all happen while Othinus heard it secondhand (from who? I guess that's another off screen talk Touma had with her) and quickly noted that Touma might be sad and trying to reinvent himself. I can only really see Aleister pulling that revelation off besides her and maybe Will who is apparently always watching. Sure, if you had someone else suffer next to Touma for that long they could probably be an understander too, Mathers apparently had multiple understanders, so it's not like it's a one and done deal, but I think you're giving a lot more credit to the other girls, or perhaps too little credit to Othinus here. This is the girl who was basically mind reading him as his arm was missing. Mina does the same for Mathers and reads into his war autism after all, the idea is you get what makes the other person tick. And many of the other girls have too much hero worship clouding their view to objectively view Touma and get what he's going to be doing and thinking. Index seems to have the opposite problem and just always assumes the worst of him.
