Been an anime fan for a while by now and I have watched a lot of stuff, but i`ve never watched Dragon Ball everyone says its a pioneer of the shonen genre and i want to get into. Does it worth the time ?

Toriyama isn't even that much into hotblood action, if you see any other manga made by him they are much more inline with classic DB than Z. Which is why DB sucks so much nowadays, the DB Toriyama wants to make and the DB fans want is not the same

Early parts of Z are really good but it's around the time that the Namek arc ends that things start going downhill.
As for GT, it isn't as bad as people make it out to be, but it's still bad. A lot of stuff that happens in it just doesn't really make sense, and the US score makes it feel really depressing. I equate the combination to the feeling of a fever dream.

In a series where there are two running products, both with the same name, both claiming to be "The true Follow Up to Dragon Ball", while both contradicting each other, and the anime contradicting the manga, as well as the two canonical films from before, why the fuck would anybody give a shit about canon.

Same Seiyuus, but they have noticeably gotten worn out, in particular Kaio-sama and Nozawa (Goku, Gohan, Goten).
Nozawa is at her best in DB, Z and GT. Come Kai she's an old women wearing out her voice.
Same with Super.
Dub also sucks so hard the Kai sub is better.

As a Dr Slump super fan that never actually got around to watching/reading Dragon Ball, I recently read through it and I just finished the first world tournament in the anime.
It has a very real charm to it, although the manga becomes a bit convoluted near the end. The anime has been phenomenal so far, although then very small bit of filler has some QUALITY moments.
I think Dr Slump still trumps Dragon Ball, although the DBZ portion is a completely different beast and not worth comparing. I like it though.
