On the other hand, Ochacos quirk is automatic. You touch something with the pads, it floats. There is no conscious effort need to use it. Toga is young enough that this could genuinely been news to her, despite her quirk always wroking this way. This was a concept introduced at the very start ofthe sereis with the water/moisture costume example. If she was over 30, then sure, it's absolutely bad writing; but she's not. She's a 17 year old who's been supressing her quirk for most of her life until relatively recently

I really don't like the 7 quirks thing but anyone who cried asspull about it is retarded. It was always a plausible powerup due to the nature of OfA and Deku almost entering Avatar state during the sports festival. I wish Hori didn't resort to the typical shounen power up to give the MC something to do but it's not a surprising powerup.

yeah, it seems like they're the most common quirk type by a pretty large margin, the only other type of quirk that seems to compete is fire emission, and that's only if Dabi isn't a Todoroki and Deku's dad actually just has fire breathing for a quirk

Hori really screwed the pooch on that one, and I love this series; here’s hoping he gets proper character development and actually learns how to use each new quirk as opposed to just master them all in one go.

The fact that he's worked on such a narratively smaller scene makes it seem he's going to have quite a few cuts/shots in this season.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Lucky Star. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Konata's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into her characterisation- her personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Lucky Star truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Konata's existential catchphrase "I BUY SAUSAGE" which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Kagami Yoshimizu's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.

To answer the first part of your question, My Hero has come around at the perfect point in time to hit it with the Western audience. The superhero genre has hit it's peak in terms of mass cultural appeal and anime itself has now gone from a niche interest in the West to something that Netflix and other big Western companies have invested time and money into. Mix that along with having a male underdog protagonist that freely expresses his emotional vulnerabilities and sensitivities, you have a perfect formula to grab a Western audience that eats that shit up due to it fitting their overt social political stance on those issues.
