Madara's pathetic death was merely an extension of Pain -> Obito -> Madara -> Zetsu -> Kaguya. Pain should've been the final boss. He actually had a connection with Naruto and was the most emotionally resonant fight until maybe the final Sasuke one. Obito and Madara was more Kakashi's and Hashirama's nemesis and made the entire war arc hollow as Naruto hardly had any deeper investment in it.

Obito had an emotional connection with Kakashi and Naruto the way Nagato had one with Jiraiya and Naruto. He brought Kakashi's failure story full circle and his past resonated with Naruto more closely than Nagato's did. He also had an even better solution to the shinobi problem than Nagato.
Madara did not lose to Hashirama during the war, he had him pinned down with those rods before absorbing the bijuu. He also certainly wasn't a jobber, he beat the five Kage (who were themselves not jobbers since at least 3 of them wrecked Sasuke's shit during the summit and the Raikage could match speed with Kyuubi mode Naruto), and he beat Sasuke while blind.

Nearly every character resonated with Naruto but Nagato being the one to kill Jiraiya gave it a harder edge with Naruto having an emotional investment in outright killing Nagato. Plus what Naruto realised against Pain was that outside of a first-world country like Konoha, people like Nagato has suffered much worse shit that Naruto ever did. I actually think Obito is superior to Pain. I acknowledge Naruto's fight with Pain is the best he's done in the series: leaving clones at Myoboku to gather sage energy, summoning them to go sage in battle without standing still, knowing exactly how many clones to leave, how to many to use to fight, and how many Rasengan to use to avoid accidentally releasing the jutsu is great planning. Tricking Pain by gathering sage energy to overload chakra absorbing Pain, and disguising himself as Rasengan and rubble is quite clever. The Tobi fight is strategic but Naruto doesn't really shine. Kakashi does a good analysis of his ability, forces Tobi to Kamui, then sends Naruto to the same dimension to hit him. What's more interesting is Kakashi coming to the realization that Tobi is his friend. Kakashi's past failures weigh heavily on him to be sure, but then again so did Jiraiya's. The difference is the audience is acquainted with Kakashi's past failures. Kakashi is more complex than Jiraiya. We know there are events shaping the Kakashi we know, and Kakashi Gaiden shows us the most important. For Jiraiya we know he feels he failed to stop Orochimaru from betraying the village, but we hardly get any details. You don't get a sense that Jiraiya's a failure until he reminisces about his life as he dies. His history with the Ame orphans is introduced last second and there's no "aha" moment where we realize it's been shaping his personality all along. On the other hand, we're intimately familiar with Kakashi's failures. We know he failed to protect Obito. We know he failed to protect Rin even though it was a dying Obito's last request. We also know he feels responsible for failing to guide Sasuke and stop his betrayal. When Tobi is unmasked, Kakashi is basically a broken man. Even though Obito's not initially connected to Naruto, the emotional payoff is stronger than any Jiraiya had with Pain.

Friendly reminder that Kishimoto admitted on record that the only reason the alien rabbit people exist was because he made Madara so strong he couldn’t think of a good way to defeat him or a good explanation for how he got that way without a literal GSFFN.

Kakashi's character arc culminates in his fight with Obito, which the anime does an incredible job with. The fight choreography, cinematography, emotional soundtrack, and stark contrast between friendly sparring and what they believe is a final fight to the death is well-executed. Jiraiya has no emotional confrontation with Pain. Therefore I think Obito's connection with Kakashi is much more resonant than Pain's with Jiraiya. Regarding Naruto's connections, he has a tenuous at best connection with Nagato, hence the emotion between them relies on Pain bringing about Jiraiya's death and Hinata's (perceived) death. Good moments for Naruto, but they don't connect him to Nagato. On the other hand, Obito and Naruto share the same dream, which Naruto's been going on about since chapter 1. Because of this, Obito actually attempts to understand his connection with Naruto. As Kakashi mentions, Obito wants to validate his life against Naruto's. This creates a struggle within him and sets up Naruto's eventual refutation of Obito's ideology. Pain actually does the same thing, but he does so accidentally: he merely kills anyone in his way. He doesn't kill Jiraiya to test Naruto and observe his reaction, he kills Jiraiya because he's in the way. Similarly he (seemingly) kills Hinata because she's in the way. Ultimately he sees that Naruto can stop himself from taking revenge to break the cycle of hatred, but Nagato wasn't trying to discern that. Obito on the other hand makes an active attempt to measure his life against Naruto's. He kills Naruto's comrades and observes whether he wavers or not. The struggle within him is there throughout the battle as Obito tries to determine if he's on the right path. Conversely throughout the Pain fight Pain thought himself a god and never even considered he could be on the wrong path.

It makes sense in context,They managed to have a complete ninshu connection and exhange thoughts just like when he did with Sasuke,You can build a Ninshu link only if you are somewhat relatable to the opposing character.

Naruto failed at this in the VOE but managed to link with Sasuke successfully after experiencing loss through jiraiya and revenge through pain,It was similar to Obito case.

It's just so pathetic and petty in the context of what the series is leading up to.

The resolution of Obito and Naruto is also a whole load of nothing. Obito challenged Naruto sure but Naruto wasn't going through any personal challenge from it. Naruto didn't come up with a new solution to peace it was the same as it was after Pain. He just has to beat it into Obito. Repeating the same thematic struggle from the previous arc was stupid. Obito was only a villain for Kakashi and should've been a Itachi-level antagonist dealt with before the climactic arc.

That and half of Juubi Madara was just left out in the open. Even if it’s not as good as all 9 tailed beasts, it should have enough chakra so she doesn’t revert to Juubi form.

Yes its even worse. Konoha itself goes to war with all the other big boys while small countries suffer. The shift in perception from the privileged great villages is much more tragic. They are obviously loosely based on Eightfold Path of Buddhism since there are 8 main members(Kawaki being an honorary 9th) and Jigen being roman numural 4th and being leader makes sense since the 4th represents when Buddha found his awakening and Jigen name means "the compassionate eye of the Buddha".
