It's still good, but not at the level of the first few chapters. The best part about this series in the beginning was how they mixed the spy action style with the oddball family stuff in a really absurd way that doesn't really compromise either direction. Now though it just feels like it's leaning fully towards the family fluff which, while still comfy and cute, feels like a waste considering the pretty interesting world that's been set up. Sure, Twilight and Yoru still act like their badass selves but them not really being in any high stakes or in any real tension kind of makes me wanting more.

I mean, that's the problem I think? In this case their secrets pretty much shaped them as people, one can't understand them without the context of their upbringing. We as the readers are in the known, but the characters are not. There's only so much development and misunderstandings you can use before their relationship ends up feeling, well, actually fake.
What I'm saying is, sure, for now it's not a problem so go ahead with the pretense, but only until a certain point, and then allow them to deal with the fallout and reconcilation of the discovery without stretching things out.

Still an enjoyable chapter, but definitely not to the heights of the first 3-4 chapters. The pacing has slowed. This manga peaks when the dysfunctionality of all their secrets collides with the """"fake"""" family shenanigans. Leaning to one side or the other both slows down the pacing and is less entertaining overall. For the past few chapters, that's exactly what's been happening. I'm far from being disappointed, but I hope the author gets back into the groove of what made the early chapters amazing.

The thing is, it had to slow down at some point. It's not like Twilight's goal is an altogether lengthy quest, he just needs to spy on some dude, so without some method of lengthening the plot we'd almost be in the final arc by now with Anya accepted into the school. The Merit/Demerit system seems pretty clearly designed to have a series of arcs designed around increasing the amount of chapters it will take to reach the original goal. Those present a great opportunity for Twilight to do spy stuff to cheat the system, but I'm honestly starting to wonder how they are going to work in Yoru's hitman job while maintaining the current lighthearted tone they have.

Trying to be a little more like Lloyd every day helps keep me going.

There's one chapter every other week. We're currently at seven and about halfway through the year. So, we'll have about 20 chapters by the end of the year.
I'm usually an anime-only fag, so the only manga I've got full manga and anime experience with this is Girls Last Tour, which had 12 episodes that covered 32 chapters. If we used that as the base-line for an estimate, you'd be pretty close (mid 2020). However, GLT had a lot of slow, atmospheric scenes and from what I understand, each chapter was spread thin in comparison to most other adaptations. So I think late 2020 or early 2021 would be a more accurate estimate for the earliest it could happen without adding stuff that wasn't in the manga.

The first four volumes of GLT are about 600 pages together, which means about 18.75 pages per chapter and therefore about 50 pages per anime episode.
The first 3 chapters of Spy x Family are about 72, 56, and 27 pages each, and it looks like the rest are all going to be 25 pages. So from that, we would actually reach the GLT base-line of 600 pages for 12 episodes in early 2020, and you're right that the first two chapters could fill the first two episodes on their own.
