Tbh, I just wanted this to be another HxH. As in slightly edgy and indulgent, with a writer that does whatever he wants or exactly what he wasn't allowed to do previously, and imagined a whole manga on par with the Zabusa arc and better. But I got a tame power fantasy like HeroAca or an Isekai, but with worse art and reaaally confused themes and rhetoric. That is my source of disappointment in this manga.

Tbh, I think I am dropping S8 until/if Word of Mouth surrounding it says it has gotten good. It is clearly nothing like what I wanted it to be.

And then, this thing is going to get destroyed when it makes it to the west because Kishi apparently didn't realize that a cripple powering up by committing ritual suicide would cause cultural issues.

Art will get better story is already getting better.

I'm a simple person, I just wanted another Naruto, but it's not even that...

He's not a noob he's one of Kishimoto's favored assistants, why would he suddenly have some big skill boost?
Plenty of wsj series art even stagnates as they get ground down by weekly schedule.

Maybe(not for me, but that's understandable opinion). But the characters kill it all. Naruto during chapter one alone got more depth and conflict that all of the characters combined in all the released chapters of S8, and that's without even counting Iruka in ch 1.
And i highly doubt this will change soon

I like S8 more than first chapters of Naruto.
Purely because of better writing and characters,can't wait until huntercucks will cry out of pure jealousy. Already Nanashi is a better character than Alluka ever was and will be,just in 2 chapts.

You can already see it won't be big. The MC is boring and a walking cliche, the artstyle is a mess, and choosing space as setting was a mistake. Only mecha can pull space setting.

Same here. I don't think Naruto is a particularly amazing character, but he is much more appealing and interesting character than the MC in S8 in the same number of chapter. Iruka is also more endearing than the mentor in S8, even with his limited appearances.
It's not like I want to shit on the manga. I had high hope for S8 but it has disappointed me so far. I get that Kishi is in no rush and he wants to go for the slow burn this time, but it's not good writing if you can't make reader care for the protag's personal journey or have a clear image of the world by the end of the first volume. So far everything just feels random and without purpose.

Had this been a story about a full blown cripple folding niggas in cyborg knife fights I'd be pretty invested , but instead we ended with a shonen checklist in comic form

Naruto also has a benefit of opening(or popularizing) a new era of shounen protagonists - "the relatable, insecure ones". This is the reason it became so popular in the first place. Before him there were only characters like Goku, Luffy, Gon and we know how ""relatable"" these ones are. But here Naruto appears - he acts like characters above, yet this is just a mask that hides his real character, the one with with problems that hit really close to home. So whether people like it or not, Naruto became a legend of his own, and it's unfair to compare him to just another random protag of S8.
The problem is that he is bland. Literally. I mean, Asta is annoying as hell, Deku kinda became annoying too(not his personality, but rather role in plot), but at least you know what they stand for. This guy? He is just...this guy.

Toriko was actually fun despite the annoying push. This manga is just abhorrent.

Naruto anime had very good animation for it's time. First Orochimaru fight was a legend.

The well animated fights were awesome, but they happened like once every 20 episodes at best.

This series is desperately in need of some kind of personal conflict. I get that the MC had to literally commit suicide to overcome his disability, but it happened so fast that it didn't carry enough weight or have more impact as it should have. MC needs a goal that drives his action and creates chances to develop his personality.

Naruto was easily one of the best shonen anime ever made and anyone thinking otherwise is delusional. And I say it as someone who grew to hate the manga and it's fanbase.

Toriko was peak shonen. The power escalation was under constant control by its author, the characters where charming, unique and interesting, the world building was superior to that of OP, and the fights and the drawing of these were simply majestically crafted.
