Hibiki was pretty solid. Simple design while still being distinct and cute. I like her floofy hair, her attitude, and her color scheme. Piston fists and feet are, objectively speak, the coolest weapon one can have in an anime, so that's pretty great. The whole "we're human, so we can get along!" thing kinda came out of nowhere, maybe should have had her talk down some school bully or something first, but whatever, protagonist gotta protagonist.
Her berserk mode was the most low-effort thing I've ever seen, and the animators should be ashamed of themselves. Solid black, are you serious? That was worse than Tsubasa's bouncy walk.
I can't wait for that alchemist to mind flay Hibiki into a hospital themed hallucination populated entirely by Top Dads.
Tsubasa probably my favorite of the bunch, which is pretty impressive with Hibiki running around Sudden Impacting people. Good hair, good arc, albeit one that goes by a bit too quick, good fights. I love her goofy blade jet feet, her sword continuously unfolding into larger swords is fantastic, and that move that I somehow forget the name of where she jet kicks a building-sized sword into things made me clap with joy. If further seasons don't make that a team attack of some kind I will riot.
That said, god damn was she useless. Pyrrhic victories and failures the whole way through. Her "ha ha, I can't even die right" bit was great, but...yeah, you're not wrong. Could make a Konosuba joke here, but I'm above that.

Chris is...pretty good? I dunno. I like her character and arc, no complaints there. Design's alright, though her outfit and tits when untranformed are pretty bad. But in terms of action? Eh. It's really hard to make shooting lots of guns and missiles as cool as piston fists and transforming swords. And no, the solution is not shooting EVEN MORE guns. If there was more of her transforming her getup into steadily more absurd firearms then maybe it would be different, but...there wasn't. Hope for the future!
Too her credit, though, she can survive a direct hit from a superweapon strong enough to destroy the moon, while using a supposedly suicidal attack, then fall to Earth, through the atmosphere, from orbit, while mostly untransformed, and still be intact enough to get sung back to life. So that's cool. And by cool I mean what the fuck are there even any stakes in this show you can't open like that with a graveyard and kanade dying then and then have everyone just not die ever no matter what the fuck this

There was this one, tiny bit near the end, where the girls were getting Durandal too Hibiki, and Chris was propelling it towards her with pistol shots. That was probably the highlight for Chris in terms of action, nehushtan armor aside. Which is unfortunate, because she looks pretty rad, and SHOULD be at least as cool as her two counterparts. But she's not.

But all in all, the writing is not exactly the strong point of this show. If that's what you're trying to watch it for you will be disappointed. Most people can either look past it for its other qualities (usually a mix of the main cast, over the top hype and the music) or leave while calling it a terribly written mess.

Kanade basically used hers as a suicide bomb; her Linker was running out and her sync rates were dropping very low, so it was her only option. Tsubasa used hers like that against Chris because she was in the nadir of her angst and was basically suicidal at that point.

Also the shitty Fine Linker puts massive strain on your body so Kanade likely didn't have much time left to live anyway.

Mikugear isn't coming back, you remember the final AXZ scene. Miku's going to get charged up with Godenergy but instead of turning into a monster she's going to become Sunshine God Miku.
I think it was mentioned in one of the keywords that people in the geah universe can basically gain superpowers by training hard enough, eg. Genjuro's super strength, Ogawa being a ninja, etc.

Though it's not really much, but her character arcs are arguably the smoothest out of all in the cast. She gets a lot better personality wise and gets fucking cooler with her upgrades as she finally gets to dual wield swords later on. I wish she was more relevant plot wise though.

Here. Miku's XDU gear was so cool it made him starts imagining how to put it into the anime, though, there was no plan to use this particular one.
Although if you follow the game's main story line then you can see that Kaneko has started to change his view on Miku's role. A large part of the latest story installment was dedicated to developing her resolve for fighting and getting strong. Back in S1 and G, he was pushing for the "housewife" image, yes, but it's clear that he has changed his mind now. The game might not be canon to the anime but it is still written by him.

each season definitely starts to descend into QUALITY toward the end, although not as much as S1 which had budget problems due to the studio also working on Bodacious Space Pirates at the same time and them paying tons of money to try and get out the OP single asap. It could've easily ended in disaster for Symphogear but it managed to pull through.
