Watanabe's recent work seemed to have always been intended mainly for Western audiences, not really surprised that it isn't popular in Japan. Even FUCKING BULLSHIT wouldn't make sense to the Nips.

C&T is simply not a good anime. It's 24 episode but we have already wasted episode on meaningless episodes like the fake music video one. Now we are in an arc that features all the issues about judge-based competitions. The reality episodes are made worse by the fact that we don't care about the judges and they are not trash fun like real judges should be,

I was giving this anime a 9/10 until the tournament arc. Now it's more like a 6/10. This arc sucks.

why in the hell make the anime be about such a a washed out concept anyway, they had a cool funky underdog story with soul, and then they throw it all away for some fucking music competition (their only appeal irl is the actual singing so to top it off the music is beyond garbage) would have been "okay" if they just focused on C&T instead of all these other artists which appear for like 1 song or line just to die off on the next episode because they are in the way.

I feel like story/themes and music are completely disconnected in this show.
You have this story about soul/soulless, "natural" and artificial music, success and shit.
And then you have some random music with random singers that doesn't suit it at all. "Soulful" songs don't feel soulful, "soulless "songs don't feel any different from them, "amateurish" songs don't feel amateurish, "amazing" songs don't feel amazing at all, etc.

Except this arc has had a lot of great, interesting, and funny moments precisely because of the other artists. Nothing C&T has done compares to the impact of Fucking Bullshit, Opera Rap, or even Pyotr's dances.

Yes, it's pretty on the nose as to the message of the show. But the problem is that this is an anime and not a manga or novel, so when we actually listen to C&T it doesn't make sense why anyone would consider them a big deal.
