I've played Persona 3 and 4 to completion and am working on 5, but when I looked into the main SMT series I heard they were much more battle oriented. I play Persona games almost entirely for the story, music, fun dialogue choices, and the social links. If what I heard is true, then I don't think SMT is for me

He's lying. Its fun because the MC is just a collection of the dumb responses, delivered as deadpan as possible

You're missing out really. Play Devil Survivor though, its got personas social elements while having SMTs excellent battle system. The story also changes depending on who you talk to too and characters can die if you fuck up.

I always pussied out and chose the better responses so I wouldn't be in bad situations constantly so that does sound like a lot of fun to get to see what my run could've been like.

If I recall the goofy options don't really affect much. It only gives you less points in social links, but otherwise, you can say whatever
