Makima is the Gun devil, she's having Denji and the crew run about trying to find the fragments of her partner the Bullet devil, who disintegrated when she fired them off the first time. The holes in the thugs were a result of Makima "Firing" when she didn't have any proper ammunition, the force of which was still enough to blow holes into the thugs because of the extreme close range. The devil the thugs are taking orders from is just a wannabe trying to move up in the ranks, it's only using the Gun Devil's name as a way to spook lesser devils and humans into following it, which is why it wants Denji's heart (aka the chainsaw devil) so it can get it's hands on some proper power.

I think she is the gun devil. Contracted humans don’t regenerate based on fear. The infinity demon was killed but regenerated because the crew were scared of it for a while. I think Makima was dead but the fear of guns nearby revived her.

So the bad guys using guns most likely means that they are the Gun devil advocates and Makima is probably another strong demon/fiend/something that rivals the Gun devil on her own behalf or something and that's why she is so shady, right?
Also, Pochita was most likely shot with a gun so he probably have something in him that make him special and that could be the reason why Makima is messing with Denji.

Fox may or may not actually be dead. Its head got shredded pretty good, but its body is presumably still in Kyoto or whatever and depending on how well it can regenerate and where it keeps its core it could still come back.

Well Hinataro was apparently considered to be the final villain in Bleach by Kubo for a while but decided it was too unbelievable, so he want with Aizen instead.

I think it’s funny that Fuji hyped up the readers with the last chapter’s cliffhanger into thinking that Denji would finally have his time to shine again only to draw him getting his body literally sliced into two halves not even halfway into the following chapter

keep in mind it's not just his head, so he's got a torso with guts spilling out of it as he lugs it around

denji has had a really good fight record so it's good to see him get knocked down occasionally.
he beat Tomato, Muscle, Zombie, Beetle fiend, Bat and Endless.
he's only really lost to Leech and Power and neither were fair fights

Yeah definitely. That’s why I’m actually really glad that Fujimoto made Denji step down to allow some room for another character to come in and save the day. I think Aki is out of the question for now but I have a feeling Makima is going to come and just obliterate everyone. I really wonder where Fujimoto is going with this arc and the story in general as things stand currently
