We obviously need Toi + Enta connection episode. Toi has represented the dark, and Enta the light for a large amount of the series with the dead brother episode even making this allusion extraordinarily obvious.

In the episode where Enta and Chikai talk about characters, the lollipops they eat represent who they're talking about, so its interesting that shadow Chikai has a yellow lollipop right now.

Since Toi's leaving the group and focus has been around Enta, obviously these two need to hash a lot of shit out.

Beyond that, I'm sure the finale will have a lot more, this is just the part of the finale I can guess.

I'd be genuinely surprised if this happened. I feel like it's either Kazuki who's making Toi come back to his senses or it's a fully threeway friendship finale in which both Enta and Kazuki do the job, but I think the first option is more likely since we need closure on the fact that they've met before.

Toi and Enta switching boxes in the second episode always struck me as foreshadowing something.

I don't feel bad for Ikuni at all. The show is very well received over in Japan and I feel like it's a very solid show. It's just smaller in scope than his other works.

I just feel Toi and Enta's relationship has been seeded throughout, with Toi's focus on Enta being very obvious. Obviously I think all three will be important to the finale, I just feel Toi and Enta's relationship requires the most closure/resolve because they have the most conflict between them right now. The loop needs to be closed.

Because Enta represents a 'good person' to Toi, and because Enta didn't want him there, Toi left the group. Obviously he also left because of his brother, but Enta put the nail in the coffin of Toi attempting to stay. 'He has someone else' is a statement Toi makes about Enta, not Kazuki.

Interesting, I'm going to keep that in mind

It seems so clear to me that the pandering is mostly between Kazuki and Toi although I don't think they'll end romantically together. I liked Toi and Enta's interactions the best between the main trio but it felt like Toi just mostly felt sorry for him.

Toi is constantly observing Enta in his scenes. It's fine if you can't see it, but it's my genuine prediction for how the finale ends. Especially because of the light and dark symbolism of Enta and Toi throughout, and Toi's major arc as belonging to the underbelly of society. He needs acceptance from Enta, who is seen as a barrier of sorts. "Specs is a good person" - "he already has someone there for him". Because Kazuki and Toi's relationship has very little needed to resolve it, it doesn't feel like it'll be as relevant. It's also something that makes sense, but has a bit of a twist, and with Ikuhara, a bit of a twist but ultimately making sense, is something I expect.

I agree with you. Every link between the three boys and each other needs to come together in the finale, and I see all the build-up between Toi and Enta that you're describing. Enta needs to understand and accept Toi as much as Toi needs to be accepted by him, to complete his own character development.

This show is pretty hard to analyse. There's puns and references, but the themes are pretty straightforward.

I think the story between Enta and Toi is largely resolved. Enta came to terms with being friendzoned, and he's OK with letting Toi and Kazuki fuck.

It does, aishiteru is much more intense. I'm pretty sure there were other sukis before Reo and Mabu.

There's a lot to be said about the larger metaphorical meaning of the otters, Sara, Reo/Mabu's relationship issues, the symbolism, etc etc. The overall plotline is fairly straightforward but what the elements mean thematically is up to interpretation.

Sarazanmai does have a big advantage over Penguindrum to me due to the character factor. I really had a hard time caring about anybody on Penguindrum, which in consequence made me not care much about whatever happened to them. Even as the stakes got higher I was on a "I guess whatever happens happens" mood. Not every character on Sarazanmai is great but I can say I care about at least 4 of them, which made some of the episodes really impactful to me.
On the other hand, literally every other aspect of Penguindrum was better. It was better directed, better paced, had better themes, better metaphors. So I can't say I prefer Sarazanmai, at least yet.

I don't hate it, I just think it was sloppily done and the characters fell flat.

One example of that is comparing how sexual desire is presented in each show. In both shows, both Kureha and Reo are supposed to be struggling with sexual desire regarding their love interest. In Reo's case, you can see just how much the desire actually affects his mental state and it plays a key role in his relationship issues with Mabu. With Kureha, there's a lot of talk about how desire is influencing her, but you never actually see how that affects her relationships or even her mental state. During those scenes, it just feels like desire is simply talked about rather than an active part of her character. When you're using a character to explore a concept, said concept should, you know, actually affect the character's mindset.

It’s bittersweet how familiar he must be with the routine since he used to defeat kappa zombies with Reo and Keppi and is now resigned to being the one to be defeated.

Personally, I don't really care to label Sarazanmai as BL or not. It's of not importance to me and I get everyone has different interpretations of what BL consists especially in media with the fujobait shounen and mecha series or outright homo relationships like in Yoi or stuff like MadoHomu. For me, as long as I enjoy a relationship, I won't look to label the story unless the magazine or the staff who have created it label it that way. But I am glad to see more surge of anime that include gays in their stories even if it's tragedy most of the time. One day we won't need to see them die or suffer so much but one could argue that straight relationships also have the same fate. Anyways, while I am not the biggest Reo/Mabu shipper but I did enjoy their scenes and I was sad with what happened tp them.
