I don't really see the Accelerator manga going for too long, though, unless it goes deeper into Group activities, which shouldn't have too many arcs either considering how short a time they were active.

Because they're clearly fast approaching the limits of where they can take Mikoto's character. Lately, she's been getting overshadowed by Kuroko, Shokuhou, Touma and even Saten. Her freedom and character agency has been steadily decreasing for a while due to the limitations placed on her by the novels. Mikoto probably can't carry a side story series for much longer.

She was good in dream ranker and in daihaseisai, she's barely had any focus in the current arc, and there's almost no way dengeki wouldn't just shit out more railgun because it makes a lot of money.

Kamachi has the right to decide to end the series too.

Because Mikoto's losing steam. Astral Buddy has more potential because there's no limit to what you can do with Junko. She doesn't appear much, if at all, in Index, so the sky's the limit with her. Mikoto's one on one way track. We know exactly where she's headed and no deviations are allowed.

Even after the second Level 6 experiment, what's changed? How has she developed as a character? What has she learned from the experiment that she hasn't learned before? It'd be better to end Railgun as a title and start a sequel starring Kuroko or something. Or how about one starring 10032? She's made so few appearances in Index that she has so much more potential.

Her and Accel are too relevant to the main series to need a spinoff and it's a testament to how a spinoff about a background character like Junko is so successful

It wouldn't surprise me if Mikoto becomes less of a main character in her own series. Truthfully Mikoto hit her peak during the Sisters Arc and while she's had great moments after that, like the level 6 shift her character hasn't been able to hit the heights of the Sisters Arc.

You know back in the clonefag stream we had for Raildex two years back, it was a spectacle looking at all of the animation that was involved with every piece of Raildex media. Everything looked great, good or passable, and so I believed that Index III would be good. Just a year ago, we were all celebrating. The first episode looked good, beautiful even. I believe that was the Index we were supposed to get consistently. Sure we had shitposters nitpick the quality but I was glad that they were only nitpicks, not the legitimate criticism's that they later came to be.
I miss those days of anticipating. I hate that we got shafted due to poor decisions, now it has worsened the overall view of Old Testament in general. Honestly, if there were an Index IV announced, I could never become as hype as I could back then.
