It's late 80s / early 90s. Keep in mind that ecchi doesn't age well. It has risque encounters aplenty, but you wouldn't want to watch it for those today.

The highlights of Season 3 are Pantyhose Taro, Mukou Takabisha vs. Shishi Hoku Dan, Reverse Jewel, and Miss Hinako.

All the rest are forgettable filler trash or Happosai hijinks.

Season three DOES have some good stuff in there, though. Declaration of Womanhood, this one, Last Days of Happosai (until the ending), Ranma and the Evil Within, and if you care for longer story arcs there's also Ranma Gets Weak

Season 6 is one of the worst seasons.

115 - a calligraphy man comes to town but only accepts challenges from people who have beautiful handwriting. Ranma is illiterate. Can he learn to write properly before calligraphy man skips town? Find that out in the next episode of dragon Ball Z.
117 - a chinese instant drowned man pond powder sold by a chinese Tele marketor . But you know what they say about chinese products. Wink wink.

118 - this one's good. It gives genma that much needed appreciation he deserves. Ranma is everything because he was trained by genma. In this episode he trains ryoga.
121- this one's my favorite. In this episode kuno loses his memory but becomes super strong due to a watermelon slicing technique he learned.
Ranma can't touch his new skills. He is at kunos mercy. After which kuno promptly attempts to rape ranma. Watch ranma running to protect his virginity the rest of the episode. Its hilarious. Ranmas never been this scared in his life.
128- this one's kinda cute and funny too. A scribble panda (kinda like ONEs drawing) wants to date ranma but akane is jealous. As always.

The series gets very filler heavy halfway through season 3. The beginning of season 4 has some cannon stuff again, but then it goes back to filler and continues filler heavy up to the end with only some canon episodes here and there.

Initially the filler actually is kind of fun, but after a while they settle down on a lame format about martial artists with seemingly magical powers popping up, only it turns out they're using tricks to fake powers (even while the canon episodes introduce actual special attacks that are completely ignored in the tv filler) and there's a noticeable quality drop there due to that. Although once in a while there are still some fun bizarre episodes.

I think the books were superior to the anime. If I had to go into this series fresh and only watched the anime, I wouldn't really care for it. The books give context and timing and pacing and humor were best conveyed through Rumiko's artwork and story telling. I would suggest anyone looking into this series to pick up the first book and give a read. Watch the anime after you've read the series first.

The best part is it happened TWICE and generated a combined total of over 50 tanks, 400 episodes of anime, and 20 OVAs from sheer asspain. Her eventual solution of making boring McSelfinsertpants the MC rather than a love interest resulted in Inuyasha and another massive hit series... and then all the fans shipping Inuyasha with all the other girls despite her wishes.

Eh, I'd only say manga > anime is true from season two onward. I picked up the anime first and didn't end up reading the manga until almost a year later, but still fell in love with the series.
Season one is slower and feels more like a drama than the manga, and I honestly prefer that. Still, some of the anime is good as supplementary material.

Yeah, the first and second season of the anime have some neat scenes tying different stories together, making everything feel like a big flowing story, while the manga is obviously episodic from the start. The anime loses that during the 2nd season though.
