>SnK is cyberpunk now
Just when I thought this series couldn't get more based. Nihei's influence on Isayama is really showing off.
Also like BLAME, the series undergoes such a dramatic shift in tone without ever losing its consistency. I was skeptical at first, but I think part 2 proves that SnK will go down as a classic, maybe even a masterpiece
SnK is cyberpunk now
The fuck is this shit
The best shonen story ever told
Eldians = Aryans
>Eren Jaeger
>Erwin Smith
>Reiner Braun
>germanic trairs such as blonde hair blue eyes and brown hair and green eyes
>german op lyrics
>centuries of colonialism and holocausts
They clearly represent some form of post colonialist germanic nation. The themes of the story involve the actual oppression post colonialist nations experience at the hands of their supposed victims. Which is on point for the japanese since korea and china are trying to oppress japan using post colonialist rhetoric.
>cyberpunk
More like steampunk. That is currently in a time period between post WWI and pre WWIII
Are you new? We have known about this since they first hinted at it in the manga 2 years ago. You are literally a slowpoke
Now that the anime is out there will be a new influx of subversive forces trying to undermine the themes of The Advancing Giant.
I will do whatever I can to prevent that.
I think it was steampunk originally, but then it became biopunk when the titans were revealed to really just be flesh-mechas.
And yeah the new suits are especially Nihei influenced, not to mention the body horror elements that have all along been pervasive
Really surprised that this series became as popular as it is given its strangeness and (relative) complexity
Do you expect anime-onlies to drop after what happens next episode? I wouldn't be surprised if they said it was supporting Nazis. But then again, most people don't really like to look at the deeper themes and messages of the story and only look at the surface level. Isayama deserves a better fanbase.
>The Advancing Giant.
You mean the The Eotena Onslaught?
>Eotena
No. The Advancing Giant is the proper translation. The Eotena Onslaught doesn't even make sense as a translation.
SnK really cant be fit into a single political 'allegory'. The stuff with Historia, King Reiss, and 'historical amnesia' is pretty much identical to the recuperation of Emperor Hirohito after WW2; the Eldian Empire could be both a fictionalized Israel as well a middle-eastern nation being attacked by developed Western powers (making Eren a radicalized terrorist similar to Bin Ladin); and of course the Eldians in Marley are kept in the equivalent of Jewish concentration camps. Plus there's the whole Japan-Korea debacle which I don't know enough about to comment on.
My point being it's stupid to collapse the whole story to a single political message. Isayama seems to be mixing up eveeerry major event in modern world history without assigning a true enemy or culprit. I think it's a commentary on humanity's endless pursuit for war more than anything, so if you see WW1 trenches and machinegun fire and say "that side is clearly a stand-in for x and that side's clearly a stand-in for y", then you're totally missing the point.
And if pic related is a sign of anything, it does still have the potential to go in some truly wild directions that no one can predict. I'm new to the series so I'm not sure if any theories on this have been made yet, but I think there may be a 'time-loop' going on with the memories of the founding titan. Any thoughts?
Dude. you are a retard.
The song is literally in german. EREN JAEGER. The themes aren't as convoluted as you think they are.
You get it in my opinion. I think it's really a waste to compare it to Germany or Japan specifically, as it's pretty clearly neither of those countries. Eldia and Marley didn't have to be fictional (see FMA). It's about how we constantly strive to compete in wars and become to superior faction or nation no matter what has happened before.
I was scrolling down, suddenly wondered why speed of sound Sonic from o was in snk
I agree with the idea that it doesn't fit into a single political idea, seeing as how he demonstrates the positives and negatives of specific political ideals. For instance with Grisha and the Restorationists, their nationalism is beneficial to them but at the same time mocked in the narrative when Grisha admits he can't read the texts. This idea that it all falls into a specific allegory like some anons above have mentioned is ridiculous. He could've taken a few ideas from history, sure, but he didn't mean for it to be a 1:1 reference to anything.
As for the time loop theory, I honestly have no idea. Some think that the only extent of the time loop is that Eren has seen what he needs to do in the future to help free Paradis from oppression. There's another theory where the the purpose of the time loop is that it's all a simulation that keeps on repeating until they succeed, but this one seem feel like a bit of a cop out for writing so I hope Isayama doesn't go that route. We just have to wait and see for how the story is going to play out, as no one for sure knows what'll happen, and we still have yet to see Eren's viewpoint to make a conclusion.
Interesting, has there been any speculation on pic related? I don't think it's accidental that the series literally begins with Eren waking up from a "long dream" and crying out of nowhere. He also mentions that Mikasa's hair was shorter in his dream, and I noticed post timeskip Mikasa likewise has short hair. Plus, the first chapter is literally called "To you in 2000 years" (though that would imply time travel to the past rather than future I guess).
I have no idea how the mechanics of it would work, but it seems pretty obvious that Isayama's going to invoke some time-fuckiness of sort in the finale. I have no doubt he'll make it amazing, given how well thought-out every other element of the series has been so far
>given how well thought-out every other element of the series has been so far
Nothing certain, but maybe Mikasa will be with him in his final moments (if the ending of the dream meant his death). Although, considering the girl in his dream said see you later, it could be possible that he has an idea that doesn't turn everyone against him. Some think that the girl in his dream isn't Mikasa but someone else, although there aren't many short black haired girls that are on Eren's side, so it seems unlikely.
"Eren" is clearly such a germanic name. Like all that turkish migrants.
It literally is a german name. Plenty of people in nazi germany had the first name eren. You're confusing last names and first names buddy.
First names spread with culture last names spread with genetics. The name Eren spread to Europe do to many wars with arabs.
Eren is a turkish name. Is literaly the word for "saint". You want to try with "Erin"? Is a Irish name. What about they made a mistake and is actually "Aaron"? That is like one of the most Jewish names ever, like Ezekiel wich short for is "Zeke".
I'm telling you that Origins of first name mean literally nothing. Plenty of nazis have the name Eren. My name is Eren. I have literally 0 arabian blood according to genetics tests i've taken.
Last names determines genetics first names have nothing to do with genetics they are a cultural thing. Arab and European culture exchanged a lot in their many wars.
Sure they change names. That is the reason there are so many germans called mohamed. Because the exchange during wars.
Sure last names like Kirchstein and Ackerman are very "aryan", and doesn't had a Jewish Origin.
1. jean Kirschtein not stein.
2. Ackerman are literally slaves that were genetically engineered. They are not eldians.
3. Obviously some names are more insular than others. A black person named Tom doesn't say anything about his genetics. Mohammad on the other hand is a name with primarily religious connotations that europeans dont tend to hold.
You're fucking retarded. Aryans are Iranians. I have no idea why you've got it in your tiny schizo head that Germans are Iranians but they're not.
Turks aren't Arabs, mutt.
> europeans dont tend to hold.
Who are Bosnians? Who are Albanians? Who are muslim Greeks? Who are muslim Spaniards? Who are muslim Portuguese? Who are Turks?
Steam punk!
Gabbers went from based Honorary Marleyan to cringe Eldian supporter
>Who are Bosnians? Who are Albanians
Slavs
>Who are muslim Greeks? Who are muslim Spaniards? Who are muslim Portuguese?
Invaders.
>Who are Turks?
Asians.
>cyberpunk
You mean steampunk right?
They're all Europeans. No amount of screeching or mental gymnasium from you will change that fact. Now sit down, schizo.
Indo Europeans you fucking retard, aryan is just another term used to describe the entire group.
Feels good to be a EM CHAD
You are actually fucking retarded. ARYAN literally means IRANIAN, just like how GERMANIC refers to Swedish, German etc or how SLAVIC refers to Russian, Polish etc or how INDIC refers to Hindu, Paki etc.
Now kill yourself, maybe if you're lucky, you'll wake up next to a certain WW2 German manlet who shot himself for being a degenerate failure.
Apologize to BLAME.
