Zero has an interesting story though. Most of the routes are miles better than some in S;G. Remember Luka or Faris route ? It was shit. Suzuha's was passable.
At least in Zero they're enjoyable.

The biggest flaw in Zero are the action scenes and the vilains, their scenes were a joke.

I think Zero went too far lightening her hair to compensate for the removal of the light specs, so there's not a whole lot of contrast between her hair and skin/clothes anymore.

These were at most an hour long. They weren't routes so much as early endings. If you're referring to their chapters then yeah I agree that the Maho parts of 0 were definitely better but still nothing in the original is as bad as Kagari.

But overall yeah, you definitly should read S;G at least, it's excellent. Zero is okay but not necessary.

Also, every version of 0 is trash, but the anime especially is legit a 2/10. If you want a better version, just read the short Arclight manga. It's a far better telling of that final arc.

Do people actually think that anime should match the detail of the VN in every frame? News flash, the VN sprites look like that because they're stationary and there's only like 20 of them per character.

Moreover, the detail in the VN sprites isn't even real. They're just putting rando filters over the drawings to simulate depth. If they tried to replicate that in the anime it would look like JoJo and no one wants that. The anime looks great as is, it draws its atmosphere from abstract lighting, and colors to a lesser extent. The anime's character models are well-suited to that style.

I have to agree with that to a smaller degree.
I don't understand the hatred for 0 when it's actually quite good and does a good job at graft itself on the existing story.
It added a couple of good characters and some nice development(Daru x Suzuha are enjoyable).

The writing was lazy at some points though, like they used too much of the old story in 0.

The anime is dull, drab and dark, the exact of opposite of the colourful, sharp and vibrant VNs. The aesthetic is fucked and all the characters suffered as a result.

Idrk why this is about the overall quality of 0 now, but my more specific thoughts:

The Epigraph and Arclight light novels and manga are solid. Not great, but functional spinoffs. When the VN is good, it's really good, but it's mostly just padding, and most of the best stuff (Moeka x Maho, Soviet Apocalypse, etc.) doesn't actually go anywhere outside of its insignificant self-contained bubble. Add in the ridiculous plot twists like Kagari actually being *redacted* and the butchering of the Arclight storyline and it's a real shitshow. Then you have the anime, it took more inspiration from the manga and light novel while integrating certain parts from the VN to fill the episode count, but the directors were so retarded that it ended up coming off more like a parody than a proper adaptation. +Everything good that the 0 VN did was removed from the anime. Animation sucked, character designs were laughably bad, colors were dead boring.

Basically, Steins;Gate 0 is cursed. It's been a shitshow since they first tried to bring it into the mainstream VN canon, and further attempts to solidify it are even more cringe. It can and should be skipped not only by fans of the original, but SciADV fans as a whole. It doesn't even tie into the overarching battle against the Committee of 300.

Okabe is only pure and devoted for his waifu.

One of the reason I didn't like 0 that much was because I played it after C;C, which just on technical level was way better, Much less QUALITY CGs, better songs and it show you how rushed 0 was also the story, characters and routes being way better but that's more subjetive

See, that's the thing, I don't think it was rushed at all. The entire story was ported from spin-off's that already existed, they just had to throw together some artwork and pad out the script to the typical length. Honestly, voice acting aside, Steins;Gate 0 could've been thrown together in a month.

The factor wasn't time, it was far more fundamental. The idea itself was just shit. You can't throw together a ton of different glorified fanfictions, throw another layer of random story beats on top of that, add heaps of filler to make it full-length, and ever have it serve as a respectable sequel. It's just not going to work.
