Pluto Anime isn't dead
Looks like _______________________________________-shit__________
Based
Fuck that looks good. Wish I could see it with actual quality.
Why are they so secretive about it? And why is it always the French men that get those infos, is it a coop project with French animation studios?
That looks pretty good. Nice.
What? It's a movie?
France's 2D animation industry is actually growing, rather than shrinking (like most western countries). Japan probably feels a connection with them on that basis.
Man I fucking hate Germany. When I was about to study I was actually thinking of doing media and animation and go for game and cartoon related jobs later but it's useless, nobody here gives a shit about that and the only animation studio we had died, and the biggest game developer we had is semi-dead too, I wish people had a better taste. Slavs show how successful you can be with games and France with cartoons and anime-styled animation. But nope. At least we have one (1) mangaka who isn't shit.
It did say "film," but sometimes when foreign press materials are translated into English that word gets applied to TV series. Still, it becoming a film would be a good thing. Bigger budget, less production crunch, and the manga is only 8 volumes (not a long-runner like many of Urasawa's other works), so they could adapt it properly.
France is the 2nd highest consumer of manga outside of Japan and historically they've always had a strong comic book industry which is older and with less bullshit going on than the US. It makes sense.
I also hate the French bastards and their access to everything good. Every day I toy with the ideaof learning French just to read Rokudenashi Blues and Cobra.
Is Pluto any good?
I only enjoyed the last arc of Monster and the first half of 20th century boy
I liked pluto a lot more than monster personally
>Sunao Katabuchi
This is gonna be good
Except it's not being directed by Katabuchi. His film is unrelated to Pluto.
It's by far Urasawa's best work.
It's by far Urasawa's worst work.
>Is Pluto any good?
It's a really engaging story until the last 2 volumes, then it suffers from the same issue that most of Urasawa's works do, Rushed ending. The source material also didn't help this because Pluto is based on a 2 episode Astroboy story that also just kind of petered out in the end and Urasawa didn't bother to fix this in any way.
Holy fuck that looks good, looks like they've got a considerable budget to back the ambitious visuals of the manga up.
Speaking of France and Cobra, whatever happened to that OVA they were animating in France that was announced fucking years ago? Seems like it's just vaporware now
Also, is Patlabor EZY the new CG thing they teased a while back?
>his film
Wait, Katabuchi has a new project in the works?
It's probably my least favorite Urasawa manga I've read despite it being the most consistent, oddly enough. Its pretty good and doesn't have any big issues but it didn't really blow me away.
No, it's 8 episodes with extended length. Also Urasawa made scenario for pilot episode.
Oh really? I was at his talk in London last week, was hoping to ask him if he'd any involvement in the show but didn't get a chance
What did he talk about?
It was a QnA so it covered a fair few bases, mostly general stuff and nothing that probably wasn't already known to be honest. The fact it had to be translated live kept things from getting too in-depth, but I did get to experience him drawing and playing music live, and then play an impromptu 30min set the next day in the middle of his exhibition to maybe 25 people tops
Reminder that Gesicht is one of Urasawa's greatest characters and the biggest reason to read/watch Pluto.
fuck Astro
good boy keeps fighting
He was my favorite manga character for a longer time, I love him.
The only good Urasawa is not 100% made by Urasawa
Yo, where the fuck is the actual trailer though? Why is it that the first real footage we see is some cam footage from a random TV in Annecy?
Monster is better than Pluto though
>Monster is better than Pluto though
Not with that ending.
Monster had a pretty good ending. Better than Pluto actually. Pluto died when Gesicht passed away imo.
It was first announced at Annecy.
Most of his best known work is co-written to some degree by someone else though
