Sounds like a massive improvement compared to the glacial pacing of S2 to me.

SOL and Queen were supposed to be somewhat important, but no, they were just a means to an end. We were supposed to have the chess pieces that outrank Queen, but no, turns out they don't exist anymore. "Kings" are just orbs of light aka major shareholders.

I want to see Faust vs. Ai because Faust was the first to warn Playmaker of Ai's potential rebellion. And Ai acted uncharacteristically cold and serious, dismissing Faust and pretty much ordering Playmaker around. Faust also only got 1 episode of a duel while Genome and Baira got 2. He just gonna get off-screened anyway.

This season is going to be seen for the rushjob that it is, much like Arc-V and 5D's endgames. Basically, the whole point is to resolve everything quickly because every series has to have a 3-year quota and can't possibly go any faster.

A season ends up rushed at the end when they spend the first 2/3rds completely dilly dallying or adding obscene amounts of padding instead of something good. Like a lot of Vrains where they just stretch shit out using the One Piece anime strategy.
And the ark cradle arc of 5D's had pacing as the least of its issues. In fact, it was pretty middling overall and not egregiously bad on any front ignoring the Z-ONE thing. Its worst issues were the direction that characters like Sherry went in, not fundamentally structural like the pacing. I don't really trust your judgment on how a Yugioh series should be paced or other structural decisions.

Sadly, yes. SOL was pegged to be major antagonists much like Iliaster early on, but I guess the writers don't want to deal with that shit.

Most of the duels in VRAINS were completely necessary, and the majority of the non-duel episodes were relevant for exposition and character development. If anything was padded, it probably had to do with the 6 or so recap episodes.
As for Arc Cradle, pacing was still pretty shit. Crow and Aki took Sherry on in a 2-episode duel, when neither character even interacted with Sherry for an extended period of time prior to this. The only one with a connection to Sherry was Yusei. And they just resolved her story arc in such a quick and contrived manner. They gave Aporia, who was the big bad prior to this arc and a super threat, a 2-episode tag duel where the writers forcibly made Rua into a signer because they forgot to do so earlier. Then Aporia went from zetsubo to kibou, and 2 episodes later he took on Zone, who he was previously affiliated with. Yusei vs. Antimony/Bruno was good, but they forcibly introduced a new accel synchro mechanic to get Yusei to "power up." Then after struggling with Accel Synchro throughout the last arc, Yusei somehow surpasses Antimony and uses an even stronger Accel Synchro. Face it. Arc Cradle could have been handled a hell of a lot better, and it would have if the writers didn't fuck around with that 20-episode filler arc before WRGP started.

That's the trick, though. They thread together important duels with duels that are technically unskippable even if the actual featured duel is with some schmuck like DNA doctor, but stretch them out unnecessarily with peanut gallery comments or slowly spoken card effect explanations. It's not only the surface level episode count that makes something feel fast or drawn-out, it's the density of actual substantive events going on within the timespan of the episode.
That's the strategy for how One Piece anime now avoids filler arcs or hiatuses: just stretch what's already there and make it all flatly tepid instead of going back and forth between "hot" full-plot episodes that are actually paced reasonably and "cold" stretches of filler that's plainly JUST filler.

Half the things you mention don't have much of anything to do with pacing, though. If you think it's poor decisions for the characters, sure that's fair, but it's not that tied to how the actual events within the arc is paced.
Yusei surpassing accel synchro was for the sake of pushing the concept as ridiculously as far as it can aesthetically than anything else, because the one thing 5D's can brag about is that it shot for that kind of excess over-the-top stuff.
The name of what he called tuning a bunch of monsters doesn't really affect that it's all to summon his big endgame quasar boss monster, and from the beginning accel synchro's "specialness" was nothing more than you need a synchro tuner + the ability to spam as many monsters as possible, but dressed up in anime terminology and aesthetics for the sake of style than the actual substance.

And Antimony getting his ass beat twice before he finally thinks he's got it wrong (since in 5D's time, duels were still used as 'who's got the better argument') isn't really that odd when much faster side changes have happened. They also emphasized that in his human past he wanted to believe what the 5D's crew believe, because in the end he's not a psychopath.

It's not a big deal, but it's a legitimate criticism. Why are they even called "Kings" now when they're not themed after anything. It's clear something was meant to be done, but over time they got phased out.
I wouldn't be surprised if they reduced them to glowing balls just so the pretense of seeing big ominous chess pieces wouldn't confuse the audience into thinking the season might have them do something rather than being about Ai.

Like the guy who does Yugi and Kaiba, only really do Yugi and kaiba as far as I have seen same for Judai, Yusei, Jack and imoutoman among others.
The only yugioh seiyuus I remember doing tons of other roles are, Kaito, Yuya and IV/Reiji.

Animators that were actually talented got the fuck out and the production for the series fell apart. The characters and plot are also played way too safe because of how utter shit the ratings and everything else about Arc V was.

Vrains also supposedly had really rushed preproduction compared to other spin offs (indicated by Yusaku's design being finalized only 2 months before airing date of ep 1 which is almost ludicrous) where producers have mentioned they take half a year to a year thinking of concepts and mulling over how the next series will be.

There were other animators otherwise Vrains would be looking like shit in 5 episode intervals. The production was such a mess for Vrains because of the chaos going on during Arc V.

A large amount of the staff left because of production issues and because of how humiliating Arc V became which fucked over all the potential Vrains had.

The standard arc was the longest arc but the Syncrow of course had to have the obligatory tournament. If it wasn't for that bullshit, at least 20 episodes would've been opened up for the xyz arc which shouldn't have been a mini arc in the first place.

Go has a skill that can negate skills so he draws 2.
In this one very specific scenario in which Playmaker NEEDED something new and happened to have 100 LP and happened to be against Go who would negate his skill, they revealed that in fact Neo Storm Access has a second effect that only worked in this one scenario and this one scenario only.
If it didn't have that effect Go would've won

I hope they take from the good parts of Vrains character designs even if the cast is younger. And go back to sticking with regular standing duels so that the chances of good backgrounds and settings increase.

Arc-V had some good ones too but a lot of them are probably too lines-heavy for the average skill level of the animators they have now, and nearly every new side character from synchro onwards ranged from a bit shit to being plainly shit, like Sam.
Goddamn Sam was a chore to even look at despite only having 3 minutes of screentime.
