all terrans must hang
Only oldfags like you and me have seen this series, OP.
I'm 29 and I don't think I'm old enough to have properly "watched" this series. I only saw it because I love pretty much everything Anno did before the rebuilds.
You're just a lame poser.
Same. 30 years old boomer here.
Am hesitating on a rewatch though, as I dont want to ruin the show for me, nostalgia and all.
kino, they don’t make em like they used to eh fellas
I've seen it like 3 times now and I still love it but there are definite flaws
Jiren what are you doing?
I don't think anybody is without being 40 and japanese. It's a pre-2000 show that I don't ever aired on television internationally, I'm not sure more than the first 8 episodes were available before dvd.
These guys were top tier villains
Running around with their g41s and KKK hoods
really? I was sure I heard of it airing internationally but I guess I was wrong
Nautilus 1 > Nautilus 2
I love evil nazi Fuyutsuki
Yeah, I miss those times when not every bad guy had to be a pretty boy with a sympathetic background
I'm 20 and I just finished watching it a few days ago.
It aired plenty in Europe. It just never got airtime in the US except on one, fairly obscure anime-dedicated channel.
Is that fucking Black Sperm? Jesus fuck J.C.
I'm 30 but I only just watched it for the first time two or three years ago. It really blew me away (other than some of the rather awful filler). The meaningful important episodes make up some of the best I've ever seen. Just excellent, and I'm curious why Evanjellyon is the mega popular one when it came out later.
Because Eva was designed to make money and the Nadia filler was really fucking rough.
Rebuild 3 tried to shove Nadia references in left, right and center.
It's been a couple of years since I watched it, but I only remember the deserted island arc being really bad. I remember the other "filler" episodes being a nice change of pace while still giving some character insights.
I didn't really like the Africa filler because of the way Nadia's character devolves into a bitchy tsundere. I wish I knew to avoid the filler because it's like 1/3 of the show and it really made it hard for me to care about the finale. It's a shame because I'm sure that, without the broadcaster trying to squeeze out more money, the series would have had way more popularity. Some of the episodes are really damn good.
Is this the boomer thread
Bitch, I was born in 2001.
And being actual niggers all the time which is funny.
This, the writers seemed to change her character every two epiosde and reuse the same conflicts and developments over and over again.
Glad i'm not the only one, i thought i had a stroke.
no one on Yea Forums is old enough to have watched that on air
You can literally skip them and not miss anything.
>Gargoyle somehow faked his death using crazy Atlantean superscience, made himself near-immortal with same, then spent the rest of his life working to Tang humanity purely to spite Nemo
this is canon now and I will not be convinced otherwise
Thanks for reminding me to finish watching this, OP.
Weren't there some episodes you needed to watch from the Africa arc? I'm forgetting episode numbers but one or two episodes was where Ayerton was introduced. I made that mistake by skipping the Africa arc. Consequence? I was lost on who Ayerton was.
Ayerton is a pretty irrelevant character even then and he actually was introduced in the second/third episode or whatever.
Just about everything involving him is cringe.
Also the africa arc is only like two episodes unless you mean the lost island stuff.
Neo-Atlantis
great show, most of my normie friends like it a lot up to the point Marie marries Sanson
What the fuck were they thinking?
Gargoyle did nothing wrong aside from being human
Great ending and music, too.
8/10
I'm 25 and Nadia was one of my strongest anime related childhood memories.
It was on german Tv at the time when I was going to my grandparents after elementary school.
To be honest, looking back I think that my Grandfather was happy that there was an Anime that remotely made sense to him between all the magical girl shows and those Pokimans
I swear Shrio Sagisu carried Nadia Eva and Kare Kano hard. Anno's smarts certainly didn't hurt but without the tracks it wouldn't be nearly the same.
I'm 20 and I watched it a couple of years ago when they put it in Super Robot Wars.
>Marie marries Sanson
Literally the best part of the finale along with the transition to the ED.
I'm 24 but I watched the box sets back when I was 12-13 several times
92fag here. Downloaded the series like 9 years ago because I wanted to watch everything Anno was behind
*ahem* fuck vegans and fuck the nautilus
It had some excellent episodes, like the one when they mourn or the one when they contemplate an aurora borealis

>2 can into space
>1 can't
nigger what are you talking about?
Never noticed this.
I'm watching Mirai Shounen Conan right now and it's becoming apparent how much stuff Anno lifted from Miyazaki to make Nadia. Even putting aside the glaring Laputa influence, the overlap between the two TV series is fairly extensive. Pretty sure Nadia's opening credits even mention Miyazaki as having designed the original concept, though it's for some other story.
Yep. From nausicaa.net
>"Nadia" was originally a Miyazaki project. In the mid-1970's, Miyazaki was working on stories for Toho, an animation company, and one of the stories was to be titled "Around the World in 80 Days by Sea". The story was to follow two young orphans fleeing an evil power or government while being helped by some bumbling bad guys, and a mysterious Captain Nemo and the Nautilus. The project was eventually shelved, though Miyazaki incorporated several elements of that story into his NHK series "Conan, the Boy of the Future". Some of these same elements later reappeared in his 1986 film "Laputa: Castle in the Sky".
>In the late 1980's, NHK and Toho approached Gainax about doing a television series and suggested this idea.
That's because it literally wasn't made by the same people as the rest of the show. It was only planned to be 2-cour, but NHK insisted that they make more episodes because the early ones were so successful. Anno refused and backed down from directing until his return in the 4 final episodes. I think most of the animation in the filler was outsourced as well.
Living the dream.
Triumph of the will, everyone?

He is such a good villain and genuinely scary. Well spoken and sinister.
These look more interesting than the Nadia movie that actually got made (not by Gainax).
Mind you, it isn't hard to look more interesting than the Nadia movie.
It has some quality compared to Eva but it's so much better because the characters are actually likable and the story is interesting. And there are some concepts that were proto ideas for Eva.
And that´s all, folks
Suffer through the Africa arc because it makes it way more satisfying when the story actually kicks back in.
Well it's based off of a novel like many Ghibli movies. I started reading the book because of this but got a little bored when they were geeking out over the latin names of sea creatures.
Are these all concept art from the original 70s project or from the t.v. show? Those character designs look a little more modern than the 70s.
It was from the motion picture, the concept art it´s still interesting, though.
Everybody talks about skipping the Africa arc but apparently that movie is so unanimously shit that it is never even discussed.
The first half hour is a clip show recap of the series. And it's the best animated part of the movie.
Grandis is one of the hottest Gainax girls. She seems like she would be fun to be around too.
