>considering Pierrot good animation

Wow, OP, that's almost Naruto quality level!

Anything that had actual shading and colors that weren’t bright neon.

What kind of question is this? Good animation is good regardless of time period. The standards of good animation hasn't changed.

Studio perriot work on yu yu hakusho and naruto was pretty damn amazing. Especially for a long runner.

This was.

Pierrot can put out good animation when they want to; just 99% of the time it's bad or average

Is that gif from 2004?

If we're limiting it to digital, then the most well animated from between 1999-2004 was RahXephon. The show had top notch effects and character animation and decent combat animation.

If we are talking strictly speaking combat animation, then it was King Gainer. However, the show look like garbage on all other fronts, with static character acting and terrible effects animation. Outside of fights, the show was barely animated

GitS:SAC was also pretty impressive for it's time.

By the end of 2004/start fo 2005 most studios had managed to iron out their production processes for television shows, so you got stuff like Kamichu, Champloo, Eureka7 and the likes, which all looked better than the aforementioned works. Doesn't change that the aforementioned shows still were pretty impressive accomplishments, given how almost all other television shows were static as fucking hell by comparison. Those animators simply adjusted to the changes quicker.

Nailed it right on the head. Good animation is timeless.

Pierrot is one of the better studios for long ongoing shows.

TOEI is pretty bad.

Norio Matsumoto is my favourite animator by far.

The webm is decent, I rate it 7/10.
It could be much better but it'd probably cut into their budget too much

Good animation is good animation.

Good for kids. Still good for kids. Watch more anime. Especially anime for kids.

Pierrot? on that topic they are increasing their staff, something will be announced soon.

The moment where the show went to shit.

>2004
Do you think the standards change in the span of a year?
