I'm honestly glad it'll be a movie. The current arc doesn't seem anywhere close to ending and has no natural stopping point for an s2. If the movie has a ~90 minute running time then it'll be the length of about 4.5 anime episodes which is perfectly fine to adapt the bondrewd arc, plus it'll probably look better.

First season had a nice balance of adventure and gore, going full ancap village would be a bit harder.

Once this arc ends, yes. We need another 10 chapters for there to be enough material for a 2nd season.

But I doubt it could be adapted well. The Sages are basically unadaptable, along with the fight Juroimoh had with the jellyfish.

I mean, if you were in their place, if there were a giant hole and no one could tell you what's at the bottom, wouldn't you be at least a little curious about what's at the bottom?
Anime-wise, it gave viewers (I feel), enough of a background on what each layer looks like (approximate geography, dangers, wonders, etc.), without dwelling on each for a long time.
There are unresolved plot threads (the biggest one of course being they haven't reached the bottom yet), and like in the 2nd or 3rd episode, they introduce a level system (whistles) which doesn't really affect the main characters (main characters in a level system almost surely devolve into some power level bullshit), but affects everyone else and also tells you who to keep an eye out for. White whistles are your mythical beings, so there's some tension that you want to see who they are, and we also know they are not all the same/they have differing personalities.
The characters are also connected to the surface due to the birthday disease.
Reg also isn't extremely preachy (except for like half an episode when Riku was about to die, but I'll let that slide).

In other words, it has an interesting premise, keeps the plot moving at a reasonable pace while also not leaving a new viewer lost, there is a power level system used to tell viewers who to respect rather than force the main characters to follow some path, good art/music, and characters set out on a journey, but are still connected to their home.

This series feels hollow, revolting and unpleasing to the eye . And this is coming from someone who loves edgy shit such as Berserk, However, it's not as revolting as the fat orangutan-looking mangaka who draws it

I started tearing up a bit when they were talking by the fishing spot in the scene before that and as the scene progressed I got more and more unhinged. Then when nanachi started crying I also lost it. I guess I've had it pretty easy when I can say nothing has made me cry as hard as this cartoon did in my adult life so far.

Yes tedit is the map we used last time, you can set the deminsions of the world however you like, the problem is that it doesn't randomly generate biomes, cave systems, ore, ect. All that has to be done by hand which is not possible, there's simply too many things to put in, but yeah the one we originally made back when the anime was arring had the seven layers and the depth perfect, the proplem was it was mostly empty, pic related shows the density we want to go for next round
