He had Poco in Phantom Blood.
He had Smokey in Battle Tendency.
He had Anne in Stardust Crusaders.
He had Koichi in Diamond is Unbreakable.
Out of all four of those, only Koichi has any shred of agency and character. All the others are just escort missions and are no more fun in a manga than in a video game.
