At best it seems like the accelerator anime could be praised for looking good, not great just within the acceptable range.

Ultimately forgettable same with heavyobject except with a bigger name behind it. The only thing we'll likely discuss is how hard the filler fucks with continuity, be it accelerator killing someone in public or infront of Yomikawa or accelerator causing too much destruction. Anime never rectified if last order remembered the events of OT4 while the LN did but only in OT8 so anime continuity can be rewritten there.

With him killing those hound dog guys and throwing a building being what got him stuck in the darkside of AC and wanted by antiskill. Two things he shouldn't do or get caught doing in the accelerator anime ever.
In fact I never really understood why accelerator suddenly decided to start killing again since this manga establishes that accelerator isn't killing anymore but will start up again in a week or two.

For a novel mobile game project with basically barely any confirmable audience outside of Japan/Asian countries? I'd say it's solid for what it should do, you know hype up existing enthusiasts.

NT adaptations are gonna be interesting. Unlike in OT where a lot of arcs were more or less standalone (for instance, Deep Blood doesn't really lead into SISTERs, and while SISTERs technically leads into Angel Fall, they're largely unrelated), NT has a lot of volumes that directly lead into and heavily tie into the subsequent volume. It'd largely change how they'd have to adapt these arcs. See, in OT, an "arc" is basically just one volume. The "Deep Blood arc" was literally just one short novel.

For instance, NT8, 9 and 10 is pretty much one long arc. NT14, 15, 16 and 17 is one long arc. NT18 to NT22 and presumably NT22R can almost become an entire two-cour-long story arc.

Conversely they can easily fuck it up. NT4, 6, 10/11, and 19 are like the only good endings for seasons

Not necessarily. There are a few good points where you could end the season on a cliffhanger. Cliffhangers are tricky business and you really wanna do it right, but there are are couple ways to do it.

There's no way you could end a two-cour show on NT4 anyway, because that would require each volume to run for at least five episodes, and there is no way in hell you could do that with NT2, which is 70% talking.

I didn't really think NT4 could be ended on, even with Norse and part of SP. I'm just thinking of ones that don't have direct cliffhangers. The Japanese really, really, really dislike cliffhangers with adaptations and was part of their anger with ep 26

Nothing you can really do about that one. New Testament is technically a separate title. You can't adapt both OT and NT in the same show, so a cliffhanger was all they could do. The only thing they COULD do was at least show that Touma was indeed still alive.

To be honest, NT20-22 needs more than a cour at this point. It's long as fuck, and NT22R adds like 3-4 on top of that. Maybe NT19-22R would be a good season

Well you could probably add an extra two episodes to make 26, but you can't just shortchange NT18 because of how important it is for understanding the general conflicts concerning Aleister's character.

I mean, in some ways NT18 might be better than 17 to end on. It has a cliffhanger to set things up, and 19 feels like a prologue to the arc with how it starts so slow. 18 could be seen as the ending/aftermath to Kamisato vs Yuiitsu

Realistically NT12 would be put in S2. NT11 is not a good season finale, it's too detached (and nothing like the situation with SS1 before anyone brings it up).

It's just that I'd imagine that NT9 and NT10 would use up a shitton of episodes. Plus, some shows like to end on a slightly more lighthearted note after such a long, continuous stream of conflict and action. In a way, you could say that NT11 is a bit of an epilogue as well, since at the very end it would show Touma recovering from his ordeals in the previous arcs while getting along with Index and Mini-Othinus.

Touma can't really add anything to his character, Kekine falls under the High Priest/Terra category of villains that don't seem to listen to his illusions speech.

Would have been cooler if durning his NT8 speech, Othinus actually negotiated with him in order to make a more effective flower girl, I never understood the point of accidentally summoning the original Kakine only to have him fight a MG and get fodderized.

A very large chunk of it is. It doesn't really need half a dozen episodes. You can easily cut out a huge chunk of the more superfluous exposition. The Kanzaki segments wouldn't amount to more than half an episode's worth of material. The last bits where Touma, Accelerator and Hamazura run around the city trying to throw of Radiosonde Castle can easily be limited to five or so minutes. Two episodes is easily enough.

There's this thing called TV ratings and most people don't tune in to watch people talk about things that don't really matter. Why to magicians have Sorcery Names? Who cares? How come Gremlin doesn't use Sorcery Names? It doesn't fucking matter. Why are magicians so butthurt about talent? It's literally irrelevant to all future storylines so cut that too. There is so much fucking superfluous dialogue in that novel that exists to explain things that don't really need explaining.

The reason Gremlin doesn't use Sorcery Names is completely irrelevant because Gremlin itself doesn't matter that much. Most of Gremlin lose their relevance the moment they're defeated, except, as mentioned before, Marian, if only because she's a stubborn bitch. Seriously, Marian appears in no less than four fucking volumes, and her greater motivations and goals are NEVER REVEALED, so who the fuck cares about why she doesn't have a Sorcery Name by that point?

Same with the structure and organization of Magic Cabals. Magic Cabals BARELY FEATURE in this franchise, and the one that actually matters, the Golden Cabal, is elaborated upon pretty well during the Aleister arc to the point where nothing stated in NT2 makes much of a difference.

A TV show can't really afford to dedicate entire episodes to something that won't pay off in the end. Things always end up on the cutting room floor because they're ultimately deemed unnecessary. Every piece of dialogue must serve a purpose, whether it's to flesh out the characters, enhancing character dynamics or pave the road to the plot. But if you spend so much time explaining something that's ultimately irrelevant, you've wasted runtime.

Very little of what Birdway says in NT2 is ultimately very important or even memorable because the narrative itself treats those revelations with little weight. If the narrative doesn't care, you can't expect the audience to care.

Index III had other problems. The core issue is that they tried to cram too many volumes into just twenty-six episodes. But even if they didn't do that, they'd still have to leave things out. Television has different restrictions compared to novels. There is not a single adaptation of a novel that didn't cut things out or alter things. Even the best adaptations do this. It's necessary.

Railgun is based off a manga, which wasn't filled with entire chapters straight of characters talking. Most of the exposition and dialogue held some sort of purpose that would pay off in the end. There was usually a reason for everything, since the limited number of pages of panels would necessitate some degree of brevity anyway.

A page's worth of dialogue from a novel is completely different fro ma page's worth of dialogue from a manga. Railgun is generally to-the-point in regards to its exposition, and it's a little more natural in how it conveyed information compared to NT2.

Expository content can be supplemented through visuals and the dialogue streamlined instead of just a bunch of guys talking on screen, which 9 times out of 10 is what the anime has been doing when someone explains their powers or a certain spiritual item, that's why most of the time exposition just a bore fest. The studio needs to be smart about it, adapting it all in a dumb way (i.e. all talk and no show) is just as bad as cutting it completely and leave out crucial info. They at least tried with the map when Tsuchi was explaining the C Doc on the plane.

Chuuya's going to make literally EVERYTHING better and there is nothing we can do about it.

According to Kamachi-sensei: Touma is like a grandma from Osaka. While disregarding personal space, the grandma comes in, solves the problem and comes out. I think that's very similar to how Touma acts.

On the flip side, I think of Accelerator as a delinquent from the city. Because he hides his true intentions with his face (honor), you can't understand what he's thinking.

Hence these two characters are heroes of two different extremes.
