Why doesn't Subahibi have an anime adaptation yet? It's like one of the most critically acclaimed VNs of all time. How can Higurashi get one but not this?

Impossible to adapt properly, also too long for 1 cour.

>Impossible to adapt properly
No it isn't. The VN didn't show everything clearly and neither would an anime.

>also too long for 1 cour.
YU-NO got 2 cour.

It does. But they decided to call the adaptation Lucky Star instead.

2 cours is not enough for a 60+ hour long VN and YU-NO anime is just plain shit.

Who wants to watch an anime about a boy crossdressing and sucking cock?

>2 cours is not enough for a 60+ hour long VN
Subahibi is 50 hours at most, like Steins;Gate and Higurashi which were successful and well received. Hell, Fate Stay/Night is 60+ hours and they're making film adaptations of the Heavens Feel route.

>YU-NO anime is just plain shit.
My point is it would be 2-cour, just like the aforementioned VN adaptations.

Wow, look at this faggot

That, the multiple gang rape scenes and the depiction of teenagers doing drugs are going to be issues.

Make it a SoL anime that adapts Down the Rabbit Hole I and Looking Glass Insects (the Alternate Ending).

Wasn't a problem for Tokyo Tribes 2.

Besides, you don't need to adapt most of that shit. Zakuro's route was completely redundant too.

do i need to read infinite jest before or after this one

The real question is why haven't we got an Ever 17 adaptation yet?

Attached: Ever17 .Out.of.Infinity.600.677945.jpg (415x600, 89K)

This.

It's not been long enough yet. It normally takes a few years for the sales to settle and then a studio wants to spur more of them.

it's been 9 years you stupid cunt

>for the sales to settle
Read the post user. It's still selling, so there's no need to make an adaptation yet.

How do you adapt this part?

Attached: 1551573499872.png (1280x960, 1.09M)

The one and only true reason Subahibi wouldn't work as an anime is because the first-person perspective actually matters.

If it were to get an anime it should just be My Own Invention adapted, since it's the best part of the VN and could work as a standalone story if they adapt Kimika Alternative

But even then, no thanks. I really don't see it as an anime.

Give me an adaptation of Kusarihime instead, since the fucking VN will never be translated.

the entire story is set up on elements that it's a VN, the entire plaotnic cave that is the opening segment as lesbian yuki is something that only works when your experience with subahibi can begin and end before you realize you can even leave. not to mention the deliberate fact that tomosane doesn't have a voice actor

also, someone gets raped by a dog. higurashi can be rewritten to be a shitty generic edgelord murderfest like the anime, that's a little hard to do

Did the new stuff from the re-release showing salaryman yuuki ever get a translation? or did /jp/ win over the EOP?

The JOPs fear the EOP and have retreated to their last kameegay, Mememasa.

>tomosane doesn't have a voice actor
But he does.

By cutting it out.

>he literally played the no male VAs version
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA YOU FUCKING IDIOT BAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Same way you would adapt this.

You are an idiot. They're literally nothing alike.

Ok you got me Im just looking for an excuse to post Subahibi screencaps.

>Zakuro's route was completely redundant too
Only if you skipped the optional ending.

Because SubaHubi is bad. You could make a decent adaptation, but that would mean cutting down the shit parts and re-writing a ton of it, which anime directors dislike doing. This is the VN that opens with a boring hours-long lesbian harem chapter that has 0% to do with the plot outside of being some pretentious metaphor. The best part of the story is by far It's My Own Invention, which is chapter 3 out of 6, and never reaches the same peak again. In order to make it watchable you'd have to butcher it with a heavy focus on that chapter by itself, with maybe 1 or 2 episodes showing what happened before/after. A faithful adaption would be complete garbage since SubaHiki really is style over substance, and the mean appeal is how it makes you go "what the fuck" as bizarre things occur. It doesn't respect the reader's time and thinks it's a lot deeper than it actually is.

I just want Scaji to write a script for an original anime. Why didn't he ever get the offer? He once tweeted that he is is more than willing to work on anime.

Because Higurashi is far more commercially successful than Subahibi?

What other things did he write

this

There's no money in VNs anymore.
Why do a VN adaptation if there are plenty of hot new mobages, where both sponsors and fans have money at you like retards?

Because mainstream audiences in japan want something simple and easy to understand. Sca-Ji's too "out there".

Attached: BGI 2019-02-17 22-01-48-51_1.webm (960x720, 3M)

>want something simple and easy to understand
sounds like eops

And Muv-Luv

No sweetheart, you only need to look at this season's lineup to see how shallow TV anime is today.

VN adaptations are a relic of '00s. LNs are where the money is now.

Why their going to adapt this garbage ask yourself

Fuck off never

Subahibi introduced me to Taleb. What a based person.

What high profile VN studios are even around at this point? Key can't afford to make a 20th birthday party, Age and Light are dead and it feels like 07th expension is still going only because they are still doing doujin works.
With the steam and kickstarter craze being a fluke, it seems like relying on the western market isn't going to help at all. Is there really no future for VNs?

Face it, they're boring for dopamine addicted gamers and crude for anti-porn litfags
They aren't even 1% porn and yet they're tagged as "porn games" making them hard to sell

Too complex.

Sakura no Uta would make much better anime, it has art as its main theme and the story is pure human drama. Shaft would probably do a great job with it.

I think that VN's that use gameplay mechanics to feel more engaging will survive, while the traditional "click click click until you see options pop up" will die.
Not many people want to sit through hours of text to see if they like something or not. That's why light novels are a far more popular choice (plus, cheaper).

This

dumb fuck

Are you sure?

>I think
>Are you sure??????

Minori's still doing quite well with Underwater Ray Romano, whatever studio Takase Naofumi is part of as well (Xuse and Eternal aren't the same shit?), then the more 'mainstream', Legend of Heroes series, Rance, Valkyria, etc.

Probably because it's shit?

I must be going insane, I was thinking about that exact thing before seeing this thread in the catalog. The biggest obstacle is that the VN depends on you understanding the world through separate, necessarily limited perspectives to get what it's saying about the "limits of our worlds", so not being able to see exactly what each character thinks and sees makes it harder to get the story's main idea. As I see it, you could either try to compress the whole thing to fit the sequence in the VN, or you could do a straight route as Tomosane/Yuki and reveal some key moments through flashbacks. This way, you could even start out from Takuji's POV and switch over when things begin to pick up. It's a rough solution, but that's also possible.

He has no VA in Takuji's route, but in the last routes he certainly does. I agree with what you say about Down the Rabbit Hole though.
The only true flaws it has are pacing issues and difficulty expressing its message. There are lots of passages that seem important to the story's themes when you read them, but turn out to be kind of irrelevant when you get to the end and they just tell you directly what the story is trying to say. This makes all that time hearing Zakuro talk about constellations or seeing Mamiya rail against society a waste. I do think there's an intended point to most of these passages, but the pacing makes it hard to decipher what that is.

Attached: subahibi.jpg (1920x1079, 915K)

There sure is a lot of empty space in that picture.

>He has no VA in Takuji's route

Attached: rinaface.png (226x226, 95K)

With forced QUALITY

This VN was utter trash, why do people like it?

The same could be said about your mother.

This VN has nothing good going for it at all.

What's wrong with Sakura no Uta?

I suppose there's some version where he does, yeah? It doesn't really make a difference.

>to get what it's saying about the "limits of our worlds"
You won't get this until you read Wittgenstein though

Wow, coincidentally I just finished this game.
It absolutely fucking sucked. It pushes all the shock shit at the beginning of the game, and does a good job of building up mystery, but then once it reveals what's actually going on the story suddenly becomes a hell of a lot simpler and just makes the other shit feel like a waste of time. I mean I guess the writing's pretty good if it managed to keep things interesting until the reveal, but the reveal just sucked.
Also a lot of the ecchi shit felt forced. There's one scene in particular with the naked teacher that was just completely fucking dumb and a waste of time. Also not to mention the fact that half of the sex scenes are literally just delusions from the MC.
Best characters were Yuki and Kimika, everyone else was kinda meh.
Oh and also there's a few fourth wall breaks where I could literally feel the writer's smugness through the screen. Completely took me out of the game whenever I encountered them.

Attached: 1542061289508.jpg (1000x665, 388K)

because it's impossible to do, that would screw up all the themes and major plot twists of the vn, it doesn't make any sense

>everyone else was kinda meh.
Our lord and savior Mamiya Takuji was anything but "meh" character

Not really, no, but it does a good job of introducing the concept and the flaws in our reason, which is the best you can hope for outside of a pure philosophical text. There's one moment near the beginning of Jabberwocky I where the game explains all of what it has to say on this topic, and it's when Yuki is explaining to Tomosane how the outside world uses external influences to make them appear identical to other people on the outside, when their experiences are actually totally different. She makes a point about how Takuji's mind has a kind of 'auto-correct' feature where any incongruity is either forgotten or reshaped to fit some understanding in his mind, and what this is strongly hinting at is that we all have a similar process in our minds, and this is one of the reasons we can't know 'the truth'. This is going to sound really pretentious, but it's an idea that was foundational for Kant and Wittgenstein was a direct successor to Kant so the pattern lines up. The perceptions of New Yuki, Takuji, and Takashima were all hopelessly distorted so that reality as most people know it was hidden from them, but there was internal consistency in their minds, so to them it was like a vacuum that was complete. This is what I think Wittgenstein was getting at, though I haven't read him.
I understand some of your disappointment. It's an exciting moment when you discover the whole split personality thing, but immediately after it just gets simpler and simpler, and the intrigue of the story is sapped up until, even in the epilogue, it just becomes a sentimental story about a misguided woman who cared too much and screwed everything up. With that done, and the speeches where they explain the story's themes done with poor delivery, it can feel totally redundant. I think better pacing would honestly have solved most issues, since you can't spend 20 minutes on complete nonsense without making it appear important. I still like it a lot, taken as a whole.

>I think better pacing would honestly have solved most issues, since you can't spend 20 minutes on complete nonsense without making it appear important
I agree, I think excising ~10 hours of this game would be the sweet spot for making it more tolerable. Although as a personal gripe, I'd love it if a lot of the "philosophical" stuff was excised. Most of it is pure eastern fascination with western philosophy as a sort of "cool" thing, an aesthetic. I understand that a lot of people like argue that the game is meant to be interpreted by the hints left in the form of philosophical references, but fucking so many VNs do the whole "passing reference to a higher-education subject" and this game didn't do anything special with it. It's still the same surface-level bullshit that any westerner with a passing interest in philosophy would be familiar with. There's even a part where basic calculus is seen as deep, and I understand math is used in philosophy, but still

Attached: 1542352551354.jpg (480x480, 46K)

I actually like the trope honestly, and stuff like the Archimedes Principle from ever17 still sticks with me today, but you can never tell when they're talking about it because it genuinely matters or because the writers found it interesting. SubaHibi's problem is that it has way too much of the latter and not enough of the former. For instance, remember that plot point about the creator, the harmonizer, and the destroyer? It seems to be this crucial part of the story for some 5 hours before it gets discarded, and an educated person could recognize this as a reference to the three Indian deities (Shiva, Vishnu, and Krishna), but it's really just window dressing in the end. To give the VN credit, there's reason to believe that many of these things actually do matter - I just wish we had more things to go on so it wouldn't be just idle speculation. If they just swapped all the random intellectual references with similar things actually relevant to Wittgenstein, it would already have a huge leg up. At the very least, you could try to explain those quotes that bookend the chapter headings, like "The world is a limit of itself and exists as it does exist, the world is a vessel that does not contain itself, yadda yadda yadda". That would be cool.

>walls of text
This is why nobody like VNfaggots.

This is why the illiterate don't like VN readers

Funny, that's how I felt with Umineko Chiru. Author preaching so hard that I ended up dropping the story.

Same, Ryukishi says the most stupid shit and the west eats it up because muh trans chara.

Thing is, Episode 1-4 was absolutely amazing despite a few rough spots here and there (mostly the humor being forced). Then Episode 5 happens and by the end of 6 I lost all emotional attachment to everything.

Biggest waste of potential I was ever subjected to, it's a tragedy.

I would write more if there weren't a character limit

Kimika route = only route that matters

Based Kimikafag.

I never knew how much I wanted a vn version of Taleb dressed as Admiral Perry until I got it. Shame he wasn't explaining how Mediterraneans are white and recommending powerlifting to save masculinity.

Why is she drooling?

there is an anime though

A masterpiece.

Pussy so she can suicide while being pregnant.

Lmao why is Mamiya's voice so low? Also, is that Yukino Satsuki I hear?

I don't like butt stuff.

Anime is what's right.
Anime is a good thing.

>reads denpa

no shit, the charm of denpa is that you have no idea what is going on
