Bakejo

Hi Yea Forums. I'd like to introduce you to a series called Bakejo by rookie mangaka Machito Gomi, which was published on Sunday Webry from late 2017 to mid 2018. Nobody seems to have touched it before, so I scanlated the first chapter and will do a storytime.

Sorry about my shit scanlation skills, hope you can live with them.

Anime when?

Eh, they're yokai, and with a couple exceptions like Namahage, they're more "humans with quirks" than anything. Not sure they qualify as monster girls.

Very funny. I'll look forward to more...

This looks pretty good.
Thanks.

Thanks OP. It seems interesting, and the art is decent, but I wonder why it only lasted a few months? Hopefully the quality remains consistent. Good luck on the project, don't forget to upload to mangadex.

Already did.

It lasted almost a year. 43 weekly chapters in total.

Great, I'll keep track of it there. It sounded shorter when you said "late 2017 to mid 2018".

Ran from October 2nd 2017 to August 20th 2018.

Thank you, OP, it seems pretty nice so far, will keep an eye on it.

This is fantastic, thanks friend.

>Yokai sleep in the night? What about the sports festivals in the graveyard?

Ha.

Btw OP here, just going to complain a bit about my own translation in regards to this page: The title translation, "two birds with one stone", is not wrong, but the original phrase used leans more towards "two benefits in one", and the English line doesn't feel like it really matches the subject the way the Japanese one does.

That final "conflicting thoughts" thing is NOT a translation - the Japanese is "zawakyun", meaning "feeling a sensation of something being both hostile and adorable". "Conflicting thoughts" is kind of a halfassed way of describing how Miko feels, but I couldn't think of anything better without tossing in a lengthy paragraph, and that wouldn't work either.

Nice little manga OP. Saw you hanging out in the scanlation threads before, good luck with further chapters!

You could try adorabloodthirsty for the latter which gets used around the net some circles, and for the former you could try something as simple as two for the price of one.

I'll just be leaving them both as is, I think.

>You could try adorabloodthirsty for the latter which gets used around the net some circles
It's not hostility as in "I feel like this person can murder me at the drop of a hat", but as "I don't feel entirely calm around this person because I feel like they might say something passive-agressive"

Googling around a bit, it seems the general suggestion for the former is to just translate around it and word whatever line includes it as "it's both x AND y". "Double the fun" got thrown around a bit too, but I think that kinda gives the wrong kind of implications here.

Actually I'll go with this, I think.
