As for your question, not really. The Arc 2 (mansion) manga was good while everything else is ass. The Arc 3 (capital, whale, village) manga is basically an adaption of the anime, it cuts the same scenes and adds very little to the experience. I don’t have any experience with the Arc 1 manga.

Much better than the anime, the anime made some really weird and dumb changes. A big problem with the anime is that it cannot show Subaru’s perspective so you are missing a lot of the actual meat of the story. Most Ln adaptions do 1-3 volumes, Re:Zero did 8.5 volumes. That’s how much is missing.

Most if not all people here will tell you to read the WN after vol 7/8 for good reason. I’ll follow up in the next post.

If you want to jump to where the anime left off, start with Arc 4. I strongly advise you to start with user's interlude (the part you start with) because his doesn't skip the Natsuki Rem chapter like Translation Chicken does. Translation Chicken's translations are higher quality and more polished than user's but he hasn't finished Arc 4 like user has. Start with user's interlude, then switch to Translation Chicken or just keep with user's like I do. Also user's translation gets way better the farther into the Arc because I guess they were learning as they went.

I personally would not read the LN after 7 or 8 and would switch over the the WN as soon as possible but if reading is a necessity keep going until volume 9. The specific scene is in Ln 12 but neutered by cuts. The LN gets real fucky because of the anime adaption forcing retcons and other changes.

If you can read Japanese you should absolutely read the WN over the LN at that point.

When Tappei takes off the stick in his ass and actually lets Emilia develop and have flaws, she gets entertaining. In the ova it was fun how she tried to hide puck and got angry at Subaru when she got caught. That was natural and fun, she would be a better character if she wasn't as perfect all the time.

Id say the bigger issue is her interactions.
Other than Subaru everyone treats her distantly and puts her on a pedestal.
