Current weak AI can't quite develop depression. The creation of a strong AI, or an artificial general intelligence, AGI, is needed. No modern AI has enough cohesion to feel a sense of "self".
Very smart people have very different opinions on the matter, it comes down to personal philosophies. Personally I think it's obvious a conscious robot will be created some day but I'm just an user posting on Yea Forums
