To be fair, 80-100k of previous volumes are all time sales. Volume 2 made less than 2k copies in the first month, hence all talks how manga was on the verge of cancellation, it was later boosted by anime.

But 60k is still significally lower than 80k of Volume 7 (day 1 sales accoring to Tsukushi tweet).

One cute slimy waifu and her friendcity's gross, shocking origin story aren't enough to carry an entire volume's sales... That website actually doesn't show manga sales numbers any more. At least, not unless they're for large series like One Piece, anyways. And that's only for the current few volumes. They've had their manga sales numbers removed since Around November/December last year. They only have LN sales numbers now, for some reason.

You're actually mistaken about the 84,679 number for volume 7. That's the cumulative number over 2 weeks. The number for the 1st week is actually 46,106. And I was memeing on volume 8 selling 60k copies. It actually sold 60,156 over the 1st week.

Basically the numbers are:
>volume 7 - 46,106 copies (over 4 days)
>volume 8 - 60,156 copies (over 4 days)

So volume 8 is outselling volume 7 by 30% over the same period. I'm glad I tricked everybody thinking volume 8 was bad.

I'm not mistaken, both charts are showing sales in a span of 5 days (July 30-August 5 and May 27 - June 2). In the same time frame Volume 7 made 30% more sales than Volume 8.

I never thought it was bad, I just thought of reasons why it may be underselling. If anything it's the second best volume.

Volume 7 came out July 27th.
Volume 8 came out May 30th.

Okay, July 27 is Friday. It sold 46k in 3 days (1st weeks sales).
May 30th is Thursday, 60k for in 4 days.
~15k/day, sales are pretty much the same then.

Can't really do "(number of sales)/per day", since much like movie box offices, they drop off considerably after release. When the numbers release for the 2nd week of sale for volume 8, I think it'll be a lot higher than volume 7's totals.

The website that used to track daily numbers showed as much. Some user used to post charts of daily numbers for all the volumes.

Either way, it's a pretty good number for a niche manga.

If the friend put his heart into it I think it might add to the depth of the manga. The tone of the characters might change a bit, but the fact that the author himself decided to delve into manga to the point of certain death would be almost poetic.
