So does the curse affect all demons in the same way (say lord voldemort's name, get fleshy arms crush you from inside), or does the curse's effects depend on the demon's power? For example, if arrow monk said the word, would arrows tear him apart? What about shadow pond triplets?

I think they implied lady doctor's mind-fuckery power was affecting her and degrading her brain, otherwise she wouldn't have been dumb enough to fall for the trick. Maybe I'm wrong.

Yeah, the magic smoke made her "tell the truth" and triggered the curse. Which is incredibly lame. If the author wanted to show the curse, he could have done it after a real fight. Instead we get a 2 minutes footie game with Nezuko and a stupid ending. One of the worst shounen fight I've ever seen.

user, literally every fight in this manga is to the death. That's part of the appeal. To date, only one demon has escaped to fight another day. The self destruct was because of a curse that she only activated because her senses were dulled.

They clearly state that the two of them were just chumps who got duped into thinking they had joined the upper echelon. The fight's purpose is to establish the hierarchy, Tamayo's need for demon blood, and Nezuko's abnormal strength despite not eating humans. It holds a sizeable amount of narrative weight. Frankly its purpose isn't really meant to be a flashy fight, but there was solid choreography in the previous episode. The main fight was between Upvote and Tanjirou.

Nobody has problems with the demons getting murdered, problem is the fight itself. It feels like the author was writing this shit chapter by chapter, it's completely incoherent.

Tanjirou couldn't fight and as such the plot progressed differently. Tamayo witnesses Nezuko's strength. Yushiro changes to be more accepting of Tanjirou and Nezuko. Tamayo had to step in and clean up.

More characters were introduced as part of the main cast, that gave it more dynamism.
Villains had more colourful and varied personalities and backstories and made for better fights.
Spider forest was a huge step in the right direction in contrast to everything before it.

I liked the first episodes even though the plot is clearly not well-planned and the pacing is strange.
This arc though was a complete dud, barring Muzan himself. It's like the whole point of those episodes were to introduce him, and the story was a complete afterthought.

It's almost as if someone calling the person that turns people in monsters a coward, and seeing right after that some minion fucking self destructs after uttering his name would imply that he is actually cautiously an coward that wants to stop circulation of any kind information about himself.
Do you people really just turn your brain off? Do you not remember how ground diving demon reacted when Tanjirou wanted some info about the main bad guy.

He still did more damages as a severed head than when he wasn't dying. It's fine if it's one last desperate attack but that scene lasts fucking forever.

The asspull isn't the power itself, it's how it's used to end the fight out of nowhere.
It's always a red flag when a character can't use their power whenever they want because "reasons". Most of the time it's because the power is bullshit and the mangaka can't think of any other way to nerf it.
