Slayers

>It was officially announced in the latest July 2019 issue of KADOKAWA'S Dragon Magazine released today on May 17 that the long-awaited third arc of Hajime Kanzaka's internationally popular fantasy light novel series Slayers is set to launch in near future.

>The author commented on the third arc in the issue, "Rather than an official history, the third arc is going to be more like one of the possibilities, a parallel existence to the TRY TV anime and the Water Dragon King manga, I guess." Further details such as story and release schedule will be provided at a later date.

>Kanzaka's Slayers series was launched in January 1990, and many people believed that its long novel series was concluded with its 15th volume released in May 2000. And 18 years after, it surprisingly returned with its 16th volume in October 2018 as part of the 30th anniversary project for Dragon Magazine and Fujimi Fantasia Bunko.

>The third part, which will be a sequel, seems to be full of new settings, and the magazine mentions the latest issue Volume 17, where there is a new adventure for Lina and Gourry, a country that has yet to be seen, and more! Even the new magic system was explained, and despite one book suggesting that the advent of a new adventure was not possible at all, so yes, the long-awaited third part has begun to move!"

I'm actually looking forward to this. Slayers was a big part of my introduction to both anime and light novels, so it has always had a spot in my heart even as I grow up and my tastes change.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one! I don't know how much of an impact it's going to have on Yea Forums, since it requires reading instead of just sitting back with store-bought yakisoba to watch isekai, or having nothing but pages of SFX in battle shounen. I figure as long as someone's attention is grabbed and they buckle up for the ride, something good has happened.

Did they fuck?

>internationally popular
Literally no one remembers it.

Not until they're married, it would be a sin otherwise! It's a good thing they're heading back to Lina's hometown where her parents are living.

>"Rather than an official history, the third arc is going to be more like one of the possibilities, a parallel existence to the TRY"

Dropped

It's what Hajime wants. Consider the following: If there are multiple avenues of where the story can go, with none of the stories contradicting each other because they are told in parallel, then the entire fan base can be catered to, provided the franchise gets proper funding from people buying merchandise.

For example, the light novels operate as the "core" and appeal to 80s / 90s RPG fans, while the anime appeals to the older anime audience, and the manga can abuse fanservice like no tomorrow. Everyone wins! Isn't that good?

You don't get it, this is how the author approaches the concept of canon. The novels are one continuity, the anime also its own, Aqualord another, same with the video games. If you don't like one continuity, you can ignore it and stick to the one you prefer.

>not finishing up the series and putting it to bed

Dude it's literally a dead product. The entire appeal is lost when that was done 900 times. Just end the series already with Zelas, Dolphin, and Dynast.

Slayers is still popular in a few overseas countries such as South Korea, Spain, and Russia from what I've heard.

She should have been with Xellos instead

>Dude it's literally a dead product.
Says you. It still has plenty of fans in Japan who have been clamoring for a continuation for years.

Mazoku can't feel love.

I disagree with your opinion and believe that Slayers has more potential than any other franchise currently active, despite being "dead" for eighteen years. Considering Lina kneecapped herself in Volume 15 and there's much bigger threats than Vol. 15's antagonist now that elves are involved, the stakes have never been higher. This is potentially the highest point the series has been since Volume 8 or NEXT's climax.

Maybe with people who were alive long enough to know it
Nope. That ship sailed a long time ago. It's going to be the alternative to Isekei because it will be Slayers Super.

"Slayers Super" was Revo / Evo-R, and it's already been blasted for including the Pokemon. Everyone who has worked on an official Slayers project should now recognize that the fans don't want mascot toys, they want... uh, more-intellectual things to purchase.

Remember to start suggesting Slayers in the Seven Seas licensing survey.

You'll get that if you sequal off of Next/Try and finish off the remaining mazoku lords.

I don't understand what you're saying, but okay.

No.

I'm ready.

Is the anime actually good?

I've said it before, but I'll say it again, because I love Lina.

The first series is very much a 90s anime, with all it's blessings and faults. It has a very slow start, jumps the shark within the first ten episodes, then does some relatively dark stuff for what should be a nice little comedy series. I liked it.

NEXT is considered by many to be peak-Slayers. It has an ensemble cast that you actually get invested in, rather than hating they exist, it has one of the best OPs in 90s anime, and while it's an adaptation of the light novels it, in my opinion, tells the story much more strongly than what the source did.

Try is a mixed bag for some people, and I can understand their reasoning. It's chock-full of world building, is full of a serious, gloomy plot, but at the same time has a DeviantArt-tier villain and one of the WORST filler breaks I have ever seen in a show. However, the ending is extremely satisfying, if you manage to get through the slog in the middle.

Revolution / Evolution-R should technically count as one season. It has some horrible ideas, such as going back to earlier light novel stories in search of a plot and introducing the worst character in the franchise, but you can tell the writers' hearts were in the right place by trying to throw in references to older fans. The most damning thing about Revo / Evo-R is that the filler episodes are better than the plot episodes. If you need a Slayers fix, then you can watch it, but you can easily do without.

You can find every episode of the anime on YouTube subbed, because Funimation uploaded them all.

both source and adaptations are garbage
the only reason it was any popular cause grandpas back then had nothing else to watch or read

What game?

Rui understands me on a spiritual level.

You will never, ever be a waifufag as big and as passionate as Rui. Modern moebutas have nothing on him.

>made Lina his waifu from day one
>is such a badass he ships Lina with practically every character in the series
>draws nudes of Lina, both canonically and in his free time
>makes sure that in modern canon drawings she's got hard nipples
>makes 3D Lina models for his own secret purposes
>calls Hayashibara, Lina's VA for the anime, "Her Excellency"
>uses a voice modifier program to give his Lina lewds a voice
>so devoted to the waifu he created three decades ago his lewds have a sense of honor

You anons can enjoy your Linas, but Amelia will always be my best girl.

Attached: 1534977924905.png (526x406, 215K)

Do you want to help her in the pursuit of JUSTICE?

I personally can't get into Amelia despite having a slew of lewds because I view her more as a little sister rather than a potential lover.

I like how Rui's personal art is also setting up specific scenarios that cater to his "needs".

Attached: it's not a date, maybe.jpg (1012x1431, 204K)

Amelia's little sister aspect is exactly what draws me to her since I'm a lolicon. In this series Lina may be small and flat but doesn't give off the loli vibe at all.

>I'm a lolicon

Maybe not you and your 12 year old clique.

Attached: eyecatcher2.jpg (1920x1080, 247K)

>implying
And let's be honest, Amelia would definitely enjoy some rough sex if Zel initiated it.

Attached: 1549677013655.jpg (800x800, 461K)

Define... "rough".

Attached: Rule of the Internet #43.jpg (839x1357, 204K)

>rock dick

Depends how finely Zel has been sanding himself lately. But Amelia is a born M and secretly loves it when he dominates her. It gets tiresome being royalty and having everyone flatter you all the time you know.

Attached: 1540237445430.jpg (480x640, 95K)

You got a problem with that?

Yagami Dai deserves respect for being one of the few male artists to keep on releasing Slayers doujinshi years after the series went into hiatus, when most other male-oriented circles just concentrate on flavor of the month stuff.
If only he had drawn more Amelia instead of only using her as a gag character, but I guess Lina is his waifu and it can't be helped.

She looks almost like a loli. WTF I love it.

Wake me up when they finally remaster the first 3 seasons.

I remember watching this on tv 20 years ago. Did it ever end?
