Speaking of Tsukihime, several chapters ago Nikitis laid out the pecking order of vampires and it's literally the exact same as Nasuverse's (ghouls -> vampires -> shinso).
On the other hand I've seen this hierarchy in several other manga (like Rosario + Vampire) so I doubt Nasu was the one to come up with it. Where did this whole cliche come from to begin with? Certainly not from western vampire fiction.

Before the world building expanded, I thought it was a simple manga about a boy wanting to reach a tower. The start was awesome tho, I still want Tota to meet wolf guy again, and teach him void instant teleportation
