There's no lines to bend there

Kamachi almost always has them with people they can bounce off of, like Lessar for Touma in Russia or 10777 for Mikoto. Otherwise they are walking around talking to themselves like crazy people. So Misaki lately has filled that role for Mikoto. At the same time, Kamachi's moved them forward to the point where Mikoto had admitted to herself that Misaki is someone she can trust, and Misaki has reached the point where she entrusted Touma's safety to Mikoto, which is a really big jump.
Having said that NT22 almost certainly made it clear to Misaki that she doesn't belong on the front lines, and like you said, Mikoto's been able to use the AAA without her. Put that together with their friendship reaching a good spot, and I don't know how much longer she'll be front and center.
I'm hoping she actually does something to make her presence in SS3 not feel so extraneous actually. I thought when she dragged intel out of Inoue's head that would be it, but the got the same intel from Riot without issue. Well, at least there's a chance now in the next chapter.
