S1 has been known as the best season for a while, but it really gained a lot of recognition after the clusterfuck of a failure that was bestdad arc in GX.
AXZ was largely wasted potential just because it had to dig itself out of the existing hole.

the dolls were a garbage enemy because there was absolutely zero tension in any of their fights
literally no different from a generic "monster of the week" type show
the main cast is honestly too big for everyone to get a reasonable amount of airtime in a single cour, they need to lose at least 1 or 2 people

yeah the idiot friend trio was a bit much
but we got bark at the moon to compensate so it's not too bad

G was aight because it really solidified each main character's personality and ambitions
it's downfall was bringing in more main cast members
at least one of them should have died to really amplify the tension of the season, like kanade in S1

It's because S1 was the show trying to figure out what it wanted to be, and therefore anything could happen. Everyone also thought that Hibiki was going to die at the end until the song cd money came in.
By G and especially GX the show settled into a groove where you basically know the story you're going to get. It's basically impossible to try and pull of a heroic sacrifice after you already did a fakeout of one.

I just saw Symphogear Live 2013. She sings Rainbow Flower and Seigi wo Shinjite, Nigirishimete back to back and it was fucking hype. Little to no QC and no editing of the script where it actually matters.
A lot of the bad GX BD releases have a problem where they changed a scene in episode 10 slightly, so if you tried to slap a TV script on the BD it's be completely wrong. Most uploaders didn't catch it (because they didn't even bother to watch their own release) and the ones that did had a ton of of other timing issues with frame bleeds on scene changes and signs because again, they didn't watch their own releases.
Then you have releases that will do Heavenrend->Amenohabakiri substitutions but fix absolutely nothing else about the script, like Maria namedropping the illuminati at the end of G or the prostitution line in S1.
There's also the problem that everyone seems to have a hard-on for Reinforce's and Beatrice's raws, which are insanely bloated and easily twice the size of a reasonable release.
Basically they're all made by people who have no idea what the fuck they're doing so you might as well watch the release that's made by people who do, which is Commie's original release.

I don't know why they all of a sudden started using the 'proper' translations in the very last volume after using straight Commie for the first five.

We put more effort into volume 6 with retranslating songs (so we'd have full versions for a live 2018 TL) and having our editor look over the script with a few notes about literal meanings of lines.
We debated not putting out volume 6 at all and waiting until we had the entire batch done in a consistent style, but that's taken a lot longer than we planned since our editor has been busy with life.

Reminder that Chris invaded DMJii's room every single day during summer, hindered their studies and prevented them from doing it even at home.
