I guess I'm fucking retarded because I still can't quite put by finger on the intent of the final Chikai scenes.
Aniki points a loaded gun 1 inch from his brother's forehead and squeezes the trigger as far as humanly possible without actually causing the gun to fire, is it just to scare Toi away?
And the scene where Chikai is shot implies he pushed Toi out of the way, but why did the gunman who was so intent on killing Chikai aim for the kid instead in the first place? Not sure what the angle of the shot was but was he counting on the bullet to kill both in one shot, instead of just the boy dropping dead and aniki the murderous yakuza pulling another gun out of his ass to fire back with?
