Nothing pretending about it, Law legitimately is one of the stupidest characters in the entire series. His fruit is so fucking OP it's in the goddamn name, and yet he wastes it. His fruit's only drawback is that bigger rooms drain your stamina. But he's so fucking stupid that he didn't even think to make smaller rooms, like one that covers only his own body. Even with just much that, nobody should be able to touch or even see him if he didn't want them to. There is not a single more wasted DF in the entire series.

But it's easier to leave in good condition and not "job" if it's not shown in the manga. And I agree with your main point that I'm disappointed Oda didn't went with a different theme. The reason momo's fruit works so well when in comparison to caesers SMILEs is because of the nature of devil fruits, zoans in particular There was no dragon devil fruit until vegapunk fucked around with kaido DNA and made momo's fruit (also kaido is a actual dragon) When they started with other animals vegapunk started noticing how they all failed and came to the conculsion that trying to make artifical devil fruits with things that already have devil fruits will only result in failure so he quit the project Caeser refused to give up and accept that answer and kept trying to perfect the smile
