The author was asshut that people made it about romance and shipping when according to him it was purely about autistic weirdos learning how to become friends.
This is ignoring all the fucking romance and shipping he put into the series.
So he pulled a fuck you Yukimura wins the volume before the last to try and show that romance didn't matter. He then got asshurt further when people really liked them as a couple so then they broke up in the final volume and etc.

Nearly all LN's have god awful endings. This is even better than Daimaou who did a fuck you everyone dies ending, IS who the author essentially killed out of asshurt, or the absolute pinnacle Tsuki Tsuki where the author went so far off the deep end with hating the fans the publisher stepped in and refused to let him publish the final volume.

Sena was more or less the de facto winner before the author said fuck it Yukimura wins.
