Is it me or the third impact is just a very big gang bang where Shinji and Rei/Lilith are fucking the entire human race? That's how I interpreted it
There is clearly something sexual about the third impact in The End of Evangelion. Maybe it's a metaphor for how Adam & Lilith are reuniting themselves, and thus, having divine sex. This is in stark contrast to the original episodes 25 and 26 where the third impact is a psychological journey. There are much more "Freudian" stuffs with 25' and 26'

And there is much more symbolism and abstract things.

trenchant analysis, you should make a youtube about it

The religious symbolism means nothing. It’s just for style.

Instrumentality is a big human orgy, and Shinji and Asuka were not kinky enough to want to be part of it.
Cooper Brown
That's why Asuka is disgusted at the end

it is, they used sexual metaphors for it, the MP Eva had orgasm faces while stabbing themselves, also the scene Kaworu spears Shinji/Eva 01 was confirmed to be sex in the booklet and that Shinji felt "sheer ecstasy". The instrumentality scene was overlayed with pictures of naked bodies. The point is that instrumentality, being the hivemind "feels great" as in there aren't worries any longer because every person is the same body and mind, a wolrd without conflict, but also means not being yourself, losing your individuality and not getting to experience making organic connections and also the end of humanity as a whole basically. Shinji got out because the speech in the end made him "remember his shape", everyone will slowly wake up and get out of the primordial soup as long as they have the will and remember who they are. "Everywhere can be paradise as long as you have the will to live". Asuka died in tremendous shock and she had a strong will to live so it's no surprise she came out quickly and without any help. The end of the movie looked depressing, but the credits of the teatrical version (and I think the VHS, not sure if it was kept later because I didn't bother checking) was a snowfall scene. In Japan snow is a common symbol of hope and happiness to come so you should assume they won't be lonely for too long.
Daniel Turner
if asuka died fighting evas, not via instrumentality, how did she come back?
Landon Phillips
maybe it counts because it was the MP Eva who took her life, or because it was so soon and her soul was still around, who knows, maybe they didn't think of that and they didn't want to kill off anyone permanently so I just didn't take it seriously. I don't think it means every dead person until now can come back. Sadamoto fixed that scene to give her a tang scene to avoid the confusion

....what if.... that big giant rei was Gaia from captain planet and the planeteers were being sacraficed?

snowfall? what what what, I've never seen that one, if so then it's similar to the manga ending, do you have a source for the theatrical ending?
Brody Myers
>There is clearly something sexual about the third impact in The End of Evangelion. What? No, not really. Not at all.
also sorry I got it wrong, snowfall ending was for the vhs
Jeremiah Hernandez
Fucking nailed it. EoE always had an ending with positive outlook, but most people are just too disoriented by the crazy visuals/scenarios to fully realize it.
Ryder Johnson
the recently dead are shown being tanged multiple times

I just finished this anime. Absolute dog shit. Could have been so much more but the writer just decided to turn it into a modern art piece.
What was the point of kike symbolism if even the writer didn't intend on it to mean anything.

>What was the point of kike symbolism if even the writer didn't intend on it to mean anything. Cool window dressing.
