It's the best Zombie story ever created. Prove me wrong.
>protip: u cant
It's the best Zombie story ever created. Prove me wrong.
>protip: u cant
zombie stories are shit though, so it isn't so hard.
strange ending
i stopped reading when based girl (oda) died
Ending is retarded
tell me the ending
Well maybe it is the best zombie manga, but I think the first 21 volumes of The Walking Dead specially the first 8 are still the best zombie related gaphic novels.
Ending is the best part and only retards hate it.
ressentiment 2.0
The main dude was a fucking idiot who failed to become a hero. He learns to accept this and lives on anyway.
a hero is not an hero
Its one of the best seinen too.
It completely falls apart in the ending. Absolutely shit way to end a spectacular series.
The last arc lost me.
Some day ill finish reading it.
Apocalypse no Toride was better, even if the ending was disappointing in some ways.
>best Zombie story
That's like winning the gold medal at the special Olympics
zombie girl
survive/die?
How would you change the ending? By having the girl survive to get her pussy smashed by him? Be realistic guys.
By not going the alien route. By not killing best girl. By having literally any fucking other than the one we got.
>who failed to become a hero
WELL, technically speaking, we never got a word of what happened around the world after the big ZQN divided and died, thing is that we don't know if that was what was supposed to happen regardless of Hiro intervention OR if he actually getting where he got and interacting with the ZQN Queen(Hiromi) caused the division, if we assume the latest then he truly was a hero, but assuming the latest we can also assume the rest of the world is fucked and only the Queen of Japan was destroyed. I really love those kind of endings.
Okay but what would be a better explanation for zombies? Would you prefer that a voodoo shaman was revealed to be behind it?
Here's zombie media superior to it
>Night of the Living Dead
>Dawn of the Dead
>Day of the Dead
>Return of the Living Dead 1-3
>REmake
>RE1-3
>REmake 2
>RE Outbreak
>BIOHAZARD Gun Survivor 4: Heroes Never Die
>BIOHAZARD 4D Executer
And that's just off the top of my head.
It's better than the Resident Evil manga (arguably, Heavenly Island is potentially better), Walking Dead sucks in all incarnations and a lot of zombie movies are just terrible outright (Dawn remake, both Day remakes/reboots, the Return sequels, the Italian Zombie series)
RE4-7 aren't zombies, they're plagas and mold. RE6 has a few zombies, but they don't really count.
The RE movies suck, live action and CG, except for 4D Executer.
What does it matter? It's not about the zombies, it's about the characters.
>alien route
So where did you got from they were aliens? I just finished it and I don't remember a single mention of it, it might have been the next step of evolution from the mother nature(see Parasyte), or a scientific experiment ala Evangelion, and yeah, could have been aliens too, but the thing is that I don't see how is this a problem in any way to the rest of the story.
>By not killing best girl
>By having literally any fucking other than the one we got.
Huh.
I used to think so too but fuck if it doesn't fall flat later on
It turns to shit when the nature of the zombies is revealed and they become a giant waifu cadaver blob
This dude gets it They should've focused on the characters and survival. It was really solid when it was just that
I just started reading the first chapter and I'm kind of confused. Does he have schizophrenia or something?
Yeah.
Can’t prove you wrong, because you’re right senpai
I like how some retards aren't aware that the ending was basically due to axe cause writer's father died and try to defend it.
>Walking Dead sucks in all incarnations
Opinion discarded, the series was great until Sanctuary and the comic was great until The Whisperes, now if you meant to say the current state of both then ok, they both are truly total shit now.
I can, like the walking dead it fails to reinvent itself and gets boring quickly.
It meanders a lot, not having a strong plot to drive it, no real end goal, it fails to keep the shock value after the first few volumes, and it's just straight down hill consistently, and then the writer completely fumbled the ending.
This shit is mediocore at best.
This posts confuses me taking in count you are praising the ending but at the same time you are calling it shit, make up your mind buddy.
>series starts off strong, shows lots of promise
>writer runs out of juice after a few volumes
>too popular to end
>just keeps going and going and going
>plot goes off the rails, stops really being about the thing it was supposed to be about
>meanders its way to an unsatisfying ending
Such is the fate of most manga.
>Prove me wrong.
I'm praising the first few volumes not the ending
>no real end goal
Hiro becoming the hero, maybe.
>not having a strong plot to drive it
Surviving is a very strong reason.
>it fails to keep the shock value after the first few volumes
Haha, no.
>the writer completely fumbled the ending.
This is when you know to ignore an opinion.
No, you are pretty much praising the entirely character focus ending.
It's that or
>series starts off strong, shows lots of promise
>bad sales
>axed
It's a shitty industry
at least those ended conclusively.
not like this pic.
First few volumes are literally the best I've ever read. Ending really pissed me off though.
Yea I would be fine with ending if they provided some background to the aliens a little more, kind of like how Gantz ended.
>I wish it ended like Gantz
Something that has never been said before
The series gave enough explanations about them, fully explaining everything on detail would only harm the structure of the same.
It was great until Hanazawa shit the bed with ending. It left such a bad taste in people’s mouth than nobody even gives a fuck about his new manga
I know people don't like it, but it provided me with a resolution and conclusion to a story. I personally liked it too because of the creativity involved.
I'm not asking for every detail, but just something that would give a greater meaning to the protagonists journeys end
He became the hero the manga promised us, and then he just continued on to live, also we got to see what the other group destiny was and that there were much more people alive than we thought, maybe not even the 50% of the earth population died.
I think I was just interesting in the aliens, and it was treated as if I don't know anymore than he does about them.
I Am a Hero is trash, and I'm surprised it won awards. Zombie fiction is a bottom-of-the-barrel genre.
Have you read anything else? Even the beginning is pure mediocrity.
The Walking Dead was never a good outside of the pilot.
Why is everyone in the manga so fucking retarded? I'm perfectly fine with the MC acting the way he does since he's schizophrenic, but I can't accept the fact that literally everyone either doesn't notice or willfully ignores all the rabid people eating each other.
it stops being a zombie manga about 75% of the way through and into some weird ass shit that makes no sense and the story was crap from there all the way to the end.
After such an interesting beginning, it ends up devolving into anti-climatic arcs that are really disappointing.
you made the correct choice
it's a commentary on Japanese society.
shit protagonist
I cant
There's no way all of America is fucked so its not totally fubar
Whatever happened to the old guy? Hiro kind of fucked him over.
Why was bane posting never a thing in this series?
probably my favorite interpretation of zombies
He lived? As seen at the end of the manga tons of people survived the whole shit. How much time passed inside the story anyways? A year? Shit would have gotten even more ugly if it were 5 or more years.
what's that and why is shit
idk, i know it sounds fucking stupid but somehow i found it oddly believable. At least more believable than: one person gets bit and suddenly everyone in the crowd knows exactly what's going on
I think not. But thanks for playing
>lets have a whole chapter about thick pubes
In canada some dude got his whole face eaten by a rabid man and nobody on the bus did jack shit they just stared at them.
>Hideo has an armpit hair/pube fetish
I've never had more in common with a character in my life
>guy is ugly and old
>draw manga for a living
>is an autist about guns and guns safety
>his biggest fetish is thick pubes on pretty girls
>gets to score 3 girls and one was underage
He's a fine MC that fella.
Honestly it was too unsettling and creepy for a time, the incorporation of an online space such as this one, just hits too close to home. It's just not right.
I dropped this shit when that one cute girl died and came back as some sort of weird zombie creature. That was pretty stupid.
Not when Gakkou Gurashi exists.
Wait, MC was supposed to be schizophrenic? I thought he was just a weirdo and all the shit he was seeing was symbolism like in PunPun. It's been like 4+ years since I first picked it up so I could be wrong, though.
Is the ending as awful as Boys On the Run's?
It was good, but that part when it starts to get weird was when I dropped it. Also no one was translating it, I dropped to read it all in one go later, still didn't read it.
This
s e n d m o r e
They killed Miki.
Cage of Eden (Eden no Ori)
>school trip to southern country
>plane got hit by something
>crash on mysterious island with dinosaurs
>try to find way back to japan
>realized they are in the future
>manga ended with they're still trying to get back to japan with lots of things unexplained
I can't believe it took me a minute to realize that was Inio Asano when I was reading this
Whoops forgot pic.
Should have just stuck to post-apocalypse survival. I mean the weird shit with the aliens and superhumans and all that was fine, so long as it was used to accentuate rather than derail the survival. Even Hideo cruising around with Zombified Girl was really comfy/creepy and they could have milked the manga for a long time that way.
Sad that Z-Nation was cancelled when it was the most fun zombie show on TV even being better than the walking dead.
I liked black summer which is a pre-sequel to Z-nation but miss the comedy and campy style it had.
But even that did the civilization crumbling better than fear the walking dead. I am a Hero's ending was kinda depressing though.
zombies are shit
This is my problem with this author and Hiroya Oku (Gantz/Inuyashiki) Their depictions of people are just so comically cynical its practically unreadable.
I dropped it when he got to the rooftops and that one creep was apparently holding this entire community of people hostage with an air gun. It was just too retarded for me to continue.
Maybe if you are still in your pretentious edgy social commentary phase or somehow relate to how pathetic the MC is I can see you reading this but I just found it insufferable.
Cursed image.
>government doesn't exist anymore
>majority of population is dead
>streets are crawling with deadly monsters
>"Oh no I better not use my gun, that's illegal!"
Was mc genuinely autistic? That shit was insanely infuriating. No one with a working brain would act like this when their life is at stake.
he' saving his bullets to be an hero
PANINI
the zombie genre is shit because it always ends up going through the usual "humans are the real monsters" route instead of just being a pure survival story
>the writer completely fumbled the ending.
>This is when you know to ignore an opinion.
But he's right, the mangaka axed the manga himself because his father died and wanted to mourn him. That's why the end is so rushed.
Has there ever been a manga that didn't have a rushed and unsatisfying ending?
>saw this manga a while back
>sent it to my friend
>he said its really good
>see this thread
>make this post
>never read it
>never will
>im sure its good, what am i doing
>ayy lmao
