SS introduces the hill that Kubo chose to die on, but wasn't really the death of the series. SS as a self-contained story is fine.
Mexico was the real moment of death. It was merely prolonging the series with some of the most derivative aspects of Bleach, with very minor thematic ties that people swear somehow legitimize it. SS was much better at world building and maintaining character stories outside of just coping with losing. Mexico was almost filler, and Kubo only barely recovers from its formula and lack of substances in the subsequent arcs.

The first SoL arcs were so poorly done it was basically a waste of time. And their fleshing out of the world was horrible.

Ichigo vs Byakuya was peak Bleach. Everything after that was a steep decline in quality. The Arrancars showing up might have been passable but the Bount filler really killed any momentum Bleach had going forward.
