That's not how it is at all, the first thing you mention is the story misleading the readers and later there's a classical Taro twist.

We don't know yet what the library is, but we know that through some experiments our world merged with that one and what happens is similar to ending E of Drakengard. Real people got somehow bound to this identity of fairy tale characters, while in the fairy tale world they fight fantasy monsters and each other, the "reality" arc shows how they died.

They are already dead, they just haven't noticed yet.

IMO Nier is more 1 dimensional compared to his other works and loses it's shockability once the big reveal comes out, personally I found Automata to be more "darker" out of the two games.

He made Drakengard and Nier pretty distinct series with their own themes (Drakengard's symbolic flower is the sign of destruction and death, Nier's symbolic flower is a sign of love and hope) and both are great in their own right.

SINoALICE does seem like the kind of game Toro would have loved to make, knowing his soft spot for fairy tales and corruption of tropes and being a gacha kusoge, most of the fanbase would be the ones who already know of his previous works and some from Automata. It's really fitting how self-aware and ironic they're making everything. That's the one thing Taro has always nailed in his writing as well. Also jealous since I wish I could go to one of those events but at the same time I'd just be really out of place and sperg out. I'm really looking forward to the global release and I'll just wait to see if anyone translates the manga but I've always felt Taro's writing lend itself better to a game format than a manga one. You should check out the Drakengard manga when you have a chance if you're looking to kill some time, I think it's alright if you're looking for more of the same.

Taro was totally influenced by Berserk for the first Drag-on-Dragoon though. He's an otaku, he hired seiyuu so he could make Rei and Asuka say dirty things for fun.
