Kira Kira is not what i could call a great season of precure, the season is honestly a mess, but it's so charming and fun that in retrospective, is one of my favorites.

I like her too. She isn't (and probably shouldn't be) considered one of the great leaders of Precure or anything but I liked the way handled her resolve in those key moments. Nothing crazy, nothing exaggerated, just solid. Except after that one Julio thing. That was a little much.

I also love how she's so embarrassed by her dad no matter how cool he is. It's cute. Poor guy.

The season was absolutely full of issues, but I really like these characters a bunch.

Also, I swear to god it's convinced me that I'll watch a cooking anime for little girls with zero fights (admittedly, it kinda helps that at least half of Kirakira's fights are really a bit shit and occasionally even actively detract from an episode).

Bloom's design is the worst in the franchise.

Unappealing colour scheme, makes the whole thing head to toe look like a solid pink crayon.
The skirt and ribbon/frills on the chest look stapled on, they don't fit in at all.

Star Twinkle is so unlucky to be the last precure of hesei and airing in 2019, literally just before the Olympics and 2020 precure (which would be the first precure of reiwa so they would want it to be special). It's so clear how weak it is on both an animation and storyboard/directing level. Toei is obviously focusing their best efforts on 2020 precure, and the Doremi movie I guess.

Not sure if I want to be Fuwa or Hikaru in that situation

Star Twinkle has been really entertaining so far. The only problem that I have with it is that Elena isn't getting any focus.

It's just pure speculation that I can be wrong on but I feel they're focusing the best on 2020 precure other than just the movie, just because their most talented storyboarders/directors haven't been on star twinkle (other than Tanaka and Tsuchida). Next year's precure is in production right now I would assume. And for the movie coming out this year I assume some of it was in production late last year. Which makes it feasible to have a deadline for this year
I don't think Hugtto dropped in quality animation and direction wise due to Star Twinkle, as it's clear 18 eps in the best precure Toei staff we expected haven't really made an appearance, and the ones that did didn't really show their best, I suspect their busy with something else. I assume they're just busy with other stuff. Some people speculated precure animators got taken by Broly but that end up being wrong. I guess they were just missing in action or on another project

Why would it take the precure timeslot? That timeslot hasn't changed since Sailor Moon. Unless the Olympics is going to air on TV Asashi which I don't think is true.

That was a surprisingly sensible review, the closing comments and the part about episode 32 especially. The third cour isn't a dropoff like it so often is in Precure; you'd think /pc/ would like it a lot more, since it totally blows out the common notions that Mana is perfect and the show is all about her. It's all episodes about the other characters, and even when Mana gets a B part, it's about her flaws or her goofy side. Dokidoki gets a reputation of being more serious and plot-heavy than previous seasons, and it does earn that, but people too often forget how silly it can get.

Not that user, I haven't finished Doki yet but so far those episodes are my favorite stretch of episodes in Doki so far. I've made it up to episode 30 but I don't see how you're counting Mana not punching the dragon as not getting anything done. If she didn't remind the fairy about her former partner they wouldn't have gotten the mirror anyway. That was all Mana.

I mean sure, they get the plot trinket by pity points, but you can't credit the old fairy being a sap and having memories to Mana specifically. She didn't appeal to her nostalgia on purpose.
Mana's contribution was convincing the gang to try again after their first failed fight. Then when it comes to the second fight, they try the usual "set things up for Mana to get the kill" plan like they always do but it ends with Mana failing to land the hit. I'm not saying she's incompetent, just that she's not perfect or overpowered. Y'all know for darn sure that Haruharu or Hana would've got that final hit.

Not once but twice, in both the finale and the movie, she's faced with someone who is fundamentally not wrong (and also immortal), and her response is "I know you're right, but fuck you anyway eat laser beams nerd." She openly admits that she's a hypocrite for doing it, but does it anyway, because Aida Mana doesn't do things half-assed. That dragon fairy asked to be punched, she'd have punched her into next week if she could have.

Finally Alice had a good episode and she got to actually use her martial arts to fight an enemy. Her story about how she met Mana and Rikka was great. I love how Sebastian fought against her dad's helpers to protect Alice. The girls running through Alice's house and using all those secret passages was hilarious. Alice's father knowing that she was Cure Rosetta and telling her to be careful was a really nice moment. Rosetta Balloon was a really weird move though. It felt like she was talking to the audience when she explained the move. Anyway, I really liked this episode.

Well It's over. Honestly the finale lacked something for my tastes. It wasn't hype, it wasn't dramatic, the resolution, while consistent, felt flat, like Suite's. I love when the pedestians knows the identities of the Cures and cheer them for the final battle because it gives a sense of payoff for all the help they bring them (I'm looking at you GoGo). I think Japan would love having a prime minister who's a motherfucking goddess who can go wreck shit if they feel pretty. All in all I would put Doki between Suite and Heartcatch. Next GoPri.

To say at the least the girls never really "lost", there wasn't a sense of comeback to build up to it No, Heart's pysche getting ripped doesn't count because it lasted a few minutes at most and she bullshitted her way into puryfing herself , Mana solved everything fairly easily (even the ProtoSelfish battle).

Mana finally befriending Regina is the real highpoint of the finale.

That's what people thought. Someone is lying, either the magazine or the way the previews are edited. It's not like the magazines have been fully accurate before also.

Well, I still think that they are the same person. It would add both to Eyewon and Blue Cat's character if that is the case.
