As far as shounens go how would you rank this?

Not the worst, nor the best overall. certainly among the funniest though.

>I-it's get good at something something episodes. I swear.

Really meh.

The humor was good but 9/10 times when it tries to get serious it's shit.
The most nutritious example of drop in quality are those episodes with the ghosts.

Nip family guy. Imagine if family guy started becoming serious.

which one would you say is best then?

10/10 comedy, but it's serious arcs feel like fillers. Only decent one is MAYBE Shinsengumi Rebellion. At least that's the only one I can remember anything about

Humor is very hit an miss for me, but I still think it holds it's own as a shonen without relying on humor too much

a timeless classic.
I dread the final chapter.
Too soon to end.

If you're going to watch the anime watch like the first 5 episodes to get a feel for the characters, then skip to like episode 20 or something. I've seen every episode of the anime and it's safe to say that in a nearly 400 episode series not every one is a banger. If you don't find an episode funny it's safe to skip to the next one. Also some of the references in the earlier seasons may not have aged very well if you haven't been watching anime for the last 13 years

>thinly veiled rec thread
It's good with the comedy and a bit hit and miss with the serious stuff. I like it when the Gorilla mixes the comedy with the drama that's going on, great for my tiny brain

Not the best, but high range imo. It's the funniest i've watched and comedy and dramatic moments are pretty balanced. Main problem is it gets a lot of eps to become good.

Really fucking fun when it tries to be but I generally hate when they try to do some emotional/preachy shit.

Which shounen is best?

Used to be a legendary classic. But it pushed itself into irrelevant tier like the shonen before it that it was apparently smarter than. Now it's just like a Naruto or Bleach where people who read the whole thing have tainted feelings but everyone who is just starting is a total fanboy.

>seen hunter x
>seen titan
>seen academy
WHAT DO I WATCH NOW???

Easily the best manga in this decade.

Best when it's a comedy.
Worst when it tries to be serious.

>certainly among the funniest though.
Almost the funniest by a long way.
But the serious arcs kill it.

Anime is trash tho

It was a solid 8/10, but it nosedived 2/3 years ago when the "ending" shit started. I bet the new chapter on the app will also not be the ending.

It's a comedy SOL pretending to be a Shounen...
meaning it is 10/10

After Shogun died the serious arcs lost something I can’t name yet. The thing about Gintama’s serious arcs was that the comedy was there to remind you all those OP characters are flawed and suffer, laugh and embarrases themselves. After Shogun died the plot got too lineal, and it was just a fashion show for a gigantic casting to appear, do their special trait and disappear again. So there is no deep in a serious arc if there isn’t a serious inner conflict for the 90% of characters forced to appear because readers miss them. That’s why even the main characters involved with the main serious arc (Utsuro/Shouyo) feel so bland, there is no real deep in the conflict but a a corner the author walk into and doesn’t know how to blow up.

I don’t mind to give you some recs. But those are my personal favorites:
>Ixion saga
>Sayonaea zetsubo sensei
>Cromartie
>Nichibros
>Hale noche Guu
>DMT
>Panty and Stocking
>Sakamoto desuga, and Hinamatsuri should be read. And for the love of God, avoid Hinamatsuri anime.

Definitely funniest. I actually enjoy as well when it gets serious. Overall pretty good.

the funniest anime ive seen so far is one punch man

The first two airings were good; the serious arcs were short yet had lots of gags while the production was on point. The comedy is great, but enjoying its full potential requires ridiculous powerlevels (not just anime/manga/games, but eleven 3DPD culture as well).

Newfag

>serious arcs
Could retards stop saying this shit?

Meh. Not as good as Sket Dance.
