Basically gave the author more freedom and time to expand on the world building and the characters motivations

Parts 1 through 6 and early Part 7 were all weekly issues (and it shows towards the end of Stone Ocean).

Your options for nuanced storytelling is so much greater with monthly that it's ridiculous.

There's highs and lows for every part and somehow he makes every individual style work for the part they're in. It constantly changes but never becomes unfitting. While I don't hate any style I feel Part 6 had the worst of it and it's creep into early 7 was pretty awful. But 7 evolved into something amazing despite it all.

Late Part 1 - Mid Part 4 is my favorite stretch, by far. I can tolerate all of it though.

Part 8 does a nice job at expressions in the small bits of comic relief, but I really wish he was more flexible in the "realism"
