It drops most horror elements pretty soon

It's battle shonen not horror anime.

This, it has some gore and death but little edge or horror.

It doesn't HAVE to be horror to be something I enjoy. Just dark stuff in general. But, are you saying bad news because of this show not making the cut? Or Anime not having good Horror in general? If it does, what are the best representations of it?

Where can I find it online? PDF?

You don't how to use Google?

Read some of Ito Junji's stuff.

It has both dark and light moments. I wouldn't call it a horror series, but it definitely has more horror elements than the average battle shounen.

There are indeed dark part, but the characters are optimist so it make the series a lot lighter.

Just watch Tokyo Ghoul or some shit, also lurk 2 more years before posting again thank you.

It's pretty good. The anime is a huge step up in art quality from the manga and generally has high production value all around. CGI models notwithstanding. It's a bit more grim than the usual fair what with every fight being to the death, and the time period it takes place in is pretty under explored in shounen. The main three characters have a great dynamic of escalating insanity, although you might miss the more explicit horror elements as their bumbling lightens the mood.

Problems come from it being a weekly manga and suffering from the sort of pacing the pressure of a weekly series creates.

It says one of his major influences is H.P Lovecraft as well as some other Japanese writers who I don't know but I will surely find out. I am looking at his catalog of work now and I must say, he is a busy writer. So many volumes. I appreciate the recommendation. What should I check out first in manga and anime?

Hey man, it's just a question. Of course I could but I like chatting on Yea Forums with fags like you!

A shounen anime couldn't be any further from horror.
Closest thing I can think of is higurashi no naku koro ni, but I think that is more like a thriller.

not hard to find manga online though.
Best one is probably mangadex

the anime adaptation isn't good so no need to check it. for manga try tomie, amigara fault, uzumaki, gyo or whatever from his collection.

Wonderful news.

What time period is it?

Taisho era

Not sure when exactly but that is 30 July 1912 to 25 December 1926.

Sweet. What are the best free anime sites? I know there is crunchyroll and some others.. but what is the best go-to for Yea Forums gents&ladiez

That's pretty cool. Surely different.

Personally I would always recommend downloading anime from nyaa.si, older ones can be a bit harder to find though.
An anime site I use for mobile is twist.moe but it has a limited librabry.

The animation is pretty good, but the plot and the fights are kind of mediocre.

kill yourself newshit

Hey OP, can you fuck off faggot with your shitty threads? Thanks. No one gives a shit if you are a horror junkie and stepping into the world of anime. kill yourself brainlet

Everyone who picks it up for the horror bait or incest bait usually ends up dropping it. Though Nezuko remains cute so if you picked it up for her and can get past the no incest part then it's fine.

>Dark
>Horror
>Thriller
Soon you will be saying that it is a deconstruction. Geez. Monster-of-the-week is the correct term.

nope. Not deconstruct but more like old school shonen.

What the fuck?
It has been a while since I watched Higurashi but I know for certain it wasn't a monster-of-the-week anime at all.

>old school shonen
The only old school thing is the samurai theme.

old school shonen and setting is about ancient Japan are different things.

What kind of idiot picks it up thinking there will be incest in it?

It's pretty good.4/5

Many user actually. Go and check older thread.

Every single one of you spoonfeeders needs to be banned.

Go to wsr.

Well more or less, S1 will have more or less all the horror elements in it, once train arc is done we basically have a battle shounen in front of us, with some gross looking monster-like enemys.

I thought they were joking. This is adaptation of a Jump battle shounen, the last place you can expect to find incest. Heck, this one does not even have enough material for shipping anyone.

Not everyone here know it's from Jump

Ok, what's old school about it then?

I'm a dirty secondary, but if we are talking about anime: terrible exposition, awful dialogue, sloooow as fuck pacing, Ufo's CGI and visual effects are hit or miss. I liked the premise and setting, Michael Jackson seems like unoriginal but cool antagonist yet overall I liked the show so far, maybe except the last two episodes which were extremaly boring and unfulfilling. I would like Nezuko to develop actual character, her being gagged cutie was fun for one episode and the hypnosis bullshit feels cheap. It's also a shame that the MC stops using hatchet as a weapon of choice and fights with the help of sword instead.

>last two episodes which were extremaly boring and unfulfilling
It's directing problem. Ufo try to strictly follow the 1ep:2chap format so the pacing is too slow.

It's not literal hynosis. He was basically telling her 'demon bad, human good' every day for years in her sleep so it kinda ingrained in her mind.

Just read/watch it yourself and judge for yourself. I like it reasonably well.
It is, however, as others have said already, not "horror".

The worldbuilding is honestly pretty piss-poor for the first two or three arcs, but once we hit spider family, it's a nonstop ride of incredible fights and decent sob stories

Its a good battle shounen but its not horror

It's dare I say "fun",appealing visuals with CG that kind of stands out but isn't an eyesore, unique artstyle but overall just another shonen with nothing too special going for it.

He's not requesting any shows to watch. He's asking our thoughts on a show he's just watched a little bit of.

>but once we hit spider family, it's a nonstop ride of incredible fights and decent sob stories
The personal drama is good but the fights are still mediocre and repetitive in terms of structure.

It does need more horror, but it's still good.

We're still at the absolute worst part of the manga.

The cult series that makes you superior by reading it until it gets an anime, becomes popular and everyone starts shitting on it, right?
