Excuse me, what the fuck? Did they think this was an acceptable ending? Who decided this was okay? Why is this allowed? How did Yea Forums react to this? I didn't watch this while it was airing.
I guess I need to read the manga now. If that was the goal they succeeded but I am still pretty disappointed.
>Did they think this was an acceptable ending? Its meant to get you to read the manga. Like every other adaptation.
Ryan Foster
The last couple of episodes killed whatever hype this show had. It's a shame they decided to do this.
Angel Cruz
>Did they think this was an acceptable ending? >Its meant to get you to read the manga. >Like every other adaptation. This. Happens to a lot of shows even outside of Houseki.
Jack Phillips
it's a 1 cour anime. how much did you expect they'd be able to cover in 12 episodes?
Dominic Hill
While it definitely leaves you wanting more (which is what the manga is for), I thought that ending it with a character like Padparadscha as one of the only few gems to genuinely sympathize with Phos even without knowing her history felt cathartic and comforting as a season 1 end.
>Fantastic anime though. Glad you enjoyed it at least.
Julian Thompson
The manga doesn't really have clear-cut arcs, and thus ending it at this point was basically trying to avoid an even larger blueballing ending.
Wyatt Thomas
Well I obviously know that most anime are just shitty low budget advertisements for the source material. It is just this one seemed particularly well done and cared for so I wasn't expecting it to pull the sort of thing it did with the ending.
Aiden Lewis
>It is just this one seemed particularly well done and cared for so I wasn't expecting it to pull the sort of thing it did with the ending. And? What do you expect them to do? People don't want anime endings anymore and their probably isn't a logical one for that point of time in the series.
Oliver Rodriguez
Foolish thread
Justin Robinson
what alternative do you propose? a rushed, contrived, and closed-off non-cannon ending just so you're not left dissatisfied?
Camden Thompson
The manga doesn't really have any stopping point where you can cut the story off with a semi-satisfying conclusion. Every single incident and plot point directly leads to the next, and minor details will be brought up way later, so there wasn't really anything they could do. In fact they cut out the introduction of an important character in the last episode just so the season wouldn't end so abruptly. If they had made the anime two cour it would have ended at a ridiculously unpleasant cliff-hanger anyway.
Matthew Bell
If Orange went any further with the adaptation, it would've ended in either a giant cliffhanger or an even more uneventful "oh it just ended" conclusion. If anything, the anime made the last episode wrap up with deliberate callbacks to the first one that aren't even in the manga as a way to communicate some pottery since the setting really doesn't allow for much anime-original plot.
Oh but what if aliens use it for nefarious purposes? You better include a clause that is must obey human beings, just in case.
Benjamin Jackson
overrated
David Evans
Will do. But praying would require hands, wouldn't it? Gotta make it humanoid then.
Nicholas Rodriguez
You should probably make it look big and strong, so it makes people feel safe and protected, too.
Wyatt Peterson
Yeah. Since he is also praying, it wouldn't hurt to reinforce the "good father" image with some priest clothing.
William Jenkins
I think hunting them down is only going to make them feel worse, user
Eli Wright
Now I'm all embarrassed. Quite a stupid mistake. Unless I'm a lunarian in the making
Ian Reed
one third of (You) will become a beautiful gembutt one day. Maybe even Phos. How does that make you feel?
Austin Phillips
Phos gets a replacement head from Lapis Lazuli, goes crazy, joins the moonies, and brings about the gempocalypse.
Cinnabar remains irrelevant for the entirety of the story.
Samuel Taylor
Give me in twenty words or less the purpose of this thread? 1. you're not up to speed with the manga ergo; we can't spoil shit 2. you're not contributing anything ergo; we can't discuss things (it's an ending that's forced because of a last minute character reveal) 3. we've just had multiple hnk threads ergo; this one is redundant
Your punishment is getting spoiled. 1. ghost quartz get's abducted, cairngorm is inside 2. sensei is a robot made to pray for lunarians 3. morganite and goshenite get taken to the moon 4. phos loses his head and gets the head of lapis lazuli 5. the gems taken to the moon are turned to dust 6. diamond, goshe, padparadscha, yellow diamond, benito, amethyst and alex all get taken to the moon by phos 7. admirabilis resorted to cannibalism and gave themselves up to the moonies in return for food 8. cairngorm ends up in a relationship with aechmea and dislikes the gems 9. the gems are trying to become lunarians 10. euclase becomes the boss of earth 11. FUCK YOU
Asher Cooper
At the time, there literally wasn't enough content for them to stop at any other point and have it make sense. Read the manga. Join us.
Daniel Smith
>implying i wont become oil for the Neo-USA to wage wars for
All the abducted gems were ground up into moon sand with no hope of revival. The recovered "parts" are all synthetic fakes.
Gabriel Rodriguez
Not to harp on this, but the anime was clearly an advertisement for the manga.
This is how a lot of 1 cour anime that are based on currently publishing manga operate, because it can help to bolster the sales of manga, which is probably more important to keeping the manga going than S2 of their anime.
Also, kiddo, turn back now. We're on that Suffer Gang shit, bitch we gemposters. The ride has made us hard, harder than diamonds.
I'll miss when it's over boys, this manga is great, you've all been diamonds.
Am I the only one who hates the garbage CGI and will forever praise and wonder what could have been with the original PV? the style was changed so much and so much was lost in the adaptation.
Landon Foster
Shit taste, and your eyes dont fucking work
Aaron Scott
read the manga
Owen Smith
>Am I the only one No shit, how many times have we been through this song and dance again?
When production began, I think there was barely enough material for them to make an anime out of it, since production started in 2015. And from what I know they had to go off of story outlines from Ichikawa for the last episode which is why Ghost was never introduced.
Asher Cruz
>We just had multiple /hnk/ threads Is Jade poster retarded?
Christian Bennett
Please understand, Jadeposter is referring to in the last couple of decades, not days.
Jordan Morales
Why are HnK posters so aggressive and rude? Have sex with a gem, incels
Charles Smith
did you niggers miss the latest chapter threads?

>Implying a week is recent Jade poster, are you retarded?
>implying it's been so long since the latest thread that we need to occupy that of an animeonly blogposter humans are made of bones and water with some other useless shit so antarc is just as human as anyone
Everyone here had their intelligence boosted due to manga. If you didn't read the manga, then you are inferior and deserve scorn.
Colton Adams
>humans are made of bones and water with some other useless shit >so antarc is just as human as anyone That's not how it works, user. Antarcticite is literally calcium chloride and water. Just the inorganic part of your bone mineral has traces of a lot of elements.

someone actually drew my stupid request, big ups user this is wonderful
Benjamin Rogers
>ywn be able to hug Antarc even if hypothetically given the chance because he'd melt.

This. We already get enough shit as-is in monthly threads. Dialing down on the autism might actually be beneficial until the next monthly chapter thread, of course.
>he isn't here just to watch people aaaaaaaaahpost shit aside, I put houseki to pumped up kicks the other day, but my hard drive just broke and the video might be lost qq
>next monthly chapter thread a month is being skipped we won't get anything till august so these threads now make even less sense
Jacob Rodriguez
>we won't get anything till august I'm aware, though I should've phrased that better. >so these threads now make even less sense Agreed and that was part of my point.
Jadeposter and those like him are ironically the biggest cancer in any Houseki thread. (You) are the reason why we are stagnating.
Alexander Jones
Dammit, now I have to wait for more for months with the rest of you. Its your fault I was unable to wait till its finished. Take responsibility right now.
Jaxson Wilson
This, fuck jadeposter and those that agree with him. they are just a loud minority with an agenda to try and kill all houseki threads on Yea Forums. jadeposter needs to go back to reading his shounenshit.
Jacob Ortiz
I bet you were complaining about the threads when budhanon was here because that's how much of a massive fag and falseflagger (You) are.
Anthony Flores
Buddhanon is cringey and stupid
Elijah Edwards
Reminder to not respond to Jadeposter and those that post the same shit as him. They are stuck in stagnation and want to maintain the status quo like the traitor they are.
Gabriel Miller
Holy shit, that Phossu is enjoying his burger.
Ayden Flores
Take that meta shit to /qa/ cocksuckers
Would you really have waited at least one year if not two without touching the manga just to wait for a second season? It took Orange 15 months to make Houseki no Kuni. Now you could at least read the manga, enjoy old stuff more knowing how it relates to what comes next, and go back to the anime enjoying it more. Plus you can read the manga while listening to the OST.
>monthly manga releases >recently a chapter released, huge discussion sparked, one only has to check the compilations >fast forward a bit, an anime-only faggot is making an attention whoring thread that invariably fails >this is somehow a bad thing >like the traitor they are keep of the kool aid, cleetus

More like (assuming it's cold enough) your skin would get painfully stuck to his body. Fully clothed hug should result in a safe, gradual rise in temperature he could probably handle.
tbqh that minute long panorama of the entire cast was really unnecessary and worse than say ending it simply with phos asking shinsha onto adventure
also i'm pretty bummed that after all this time shinsha is just a dead character arch
Henry Barnes
fuck ichikawa she ruined hnk there's punishment and suffering and then there's outright sadism and masochism
Liam Cook
>buddhanon out of nowhere So any semblance of tact in these threads is somehow a buddhanon hater? Yeah you can fuck right off with your boogeyman delusions.
But... i was in middle of it... the happiness of user belong to someone else. Might try to do ghost tho, he got cute eyes
Jordan Edwards
>tbqh that minute long panorama of the entire cast was really unnecessary Well, it served to make the viewer realize that the cast had been explored a little and we've got to know most of the gems and their interests; some of them changed just a little because of their interaction with Phos, but mostly things are as they used to be. It serves to emphasize just how much Phos had changed instead.
You would make that user happy twice, ganbate depressed drawanon-kun.
James Rogers

This is dumb, cairngorm is a natural slut and he chose his clothes Most gems are kids? What about euc or lapis?
Ryan Anderson
Funny, this is the first time I've ever posted any Jade images simply I because I missed seeing them. I was just among the regular Phosposters along with the original AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAnon.
Contrary to your fearmongering, I actually supported buddhanon's posts at the time. The sticking point here is that you somehow think that having any thread suddenly equals to the same quality discussions that buddhanon used to generate, regardless of the OP.
I'm sick of this "Woe is Me" meme regarding Phos still being perpetuated after this most recent chapter.
Phos in this most recent chapter has FINALLY been able to do anything to try and get Sensei to pray, ultimately ending with Phos finally dropping his facade and showing just how much frustration has been bottled up inside with just how many times Phos has been prevented from even getting the chance to try to get Sensei to pray. This chapter is a moment of true victory for Phos since he was finally able to at least try and force Sensei to pray instead of just begging him to pray.
Now to go on and explain what Phos is doing is NOT a bad thing, even though he may be going about it the wrong way. (I fully expect Phos and Sensei to try and pray together sometime after this, assuming this doesn't work.) Tantric Practices are the very obvious parallel here, which requires two individuals to complete the other to allow both parties to obtain Nirvana. If you compare the panels from the last time Sensei tried to pray and compar it to now, you can see the little whisp that Sensei had while praying disappeared instantly, while this time, it lingered for much longer and when Phos forced Sensei to bring his hands back together, the light that was present before returned signaling that Phos is continuing Sensei's prayer, essentially showing that he is the sole factor that is allowing the process to continue in this most recent chapter which was missing the last time Sensei tried to pray.
And going alone with the theme of two individuals completing the other, it's entirely possible that Phos may end up forcibly assimilating himself with Sensei, joining together in a way that doesn't necessarily destroy either. This would complete both individuals and allow the both of them to be able to pray (in theory, because Phos is missing a real pearl).
And then another possible outcome. (See my next post)
Luke Green
get your mind out of the gutter rohiniposter, not everything is about sex
Jacob Cruz
Good lord, calm your tits. Everyone in the chapter threads were lamenting the other gems's callous reaction to Phos, but no one was blind to the cliffhanger hinting at a potentially positive outcome. You're not the only one to pick that up, you know.
Thanks user, im fine now, i dont need the happiness of user to be happy, ill do hamburger phos for me and then might do ghost eating doritos like a pig
I can't help it, the gems shattering and reflecting light everywhere, it's just too erotic. Especially with Phos where everything gets covered in gooey, shiny gold alloy
I wouldn't do Shinsha, that one would be a little too ___fat___ for me.
Brayden Ramirez
>another drawanon It's amazing, but I've been wondering why are there so many in these threads?
Landon Fisher
Houseki just has that artistic charm to it that draws in a lot of artists. I'd know, because even I plan doing some of my own.
Aiden Moore
(Continued from the previous post.)
If Phos' attempts fail, then there are two possible outcomes. I'll go over the first one.
Phos' attempts don't work, however Phos inherently learns more about the praying process and still advances towards his goal even though his efforts didn't work. (I would expect an infodump from sensei in this scenario). This will eventually lead to Phos and Sensei trying again in a few chapters or Sensei has Phos specifically go into the ocean in order to help complete Phos' own journey that started with Phos going to the moon.
The second scenario is much darker, and doesn't necessarily fit in with established themes but could be a result of Phos forcing Sensei to attempt to finish his prayer.
Phos forcibly continuing the praying process permanently messes up Sensei, but even if this does happen, Phos gains important knowledge regarding the praying process. However as a consequence he is forced to flee into the ocean, with the other gems either in pursuit or knowing that he fled into the ocean. At which point, Phos becomes a defacto Sensei, with his King authority and basically all of the slugs doing whatever he would say. The gems would then parallel the lunarians in the beginning of the story with them trying to destroy Phos. Leading into the rest of the Sea Arc.
Again, even if Phos' fails, Phos still gains vital information and at this point at least whatever happens will be the result of his own actions and is something that he has already accepted, and will potentially have him gain new information in all scenarios.
So you tell me Anons, what do you think is the most likely? Personally, thematically both the first and last possibilities are the most likely in my eyes.
I'm not Rohini poster, but don't take the whole tantric practice part in a sexual way, but rather take it in what it's supposed to represent, which is two individuals completing the other to obtain Nirvana.
Cooper Fisher
(I should clarify by first I meant Phos succeeding and Sensei not breaking, but the prayer still failing)
Dylan Adams
Not him but yes. This is how we did it in 2001-2006 and we likesed it
Nicholas Morales
Watch how the pros work and always analyze, always study and always practice, you learn pretty quick, no talent needed
Asher Robinson
Yes, another shatter-user! As long as you aren't rapeanon. It just looks so comfy to be splintered and cleft. Mind you, the sensation of shards being re-attached looks pretty intense too (although maybe a bit... too much). The feeling of having new crystals forming on your body or condensing from solution must be pretty awesome as well, as that would have a much more manageable pace to avoid sensory overload. Imagine being antarc: you literally melt into bed, sleep for 8 months, and slowly condense again, like someone massaging your body from core outwards, slowly adding little extra bits, as your body re-grows in its solid form again. Don't drop a lapis lazuli cock in the molten antarcticite! You never know where in Antarc's body it might end up!
>Potentially positive outcome Lunarians dissapearing? While that certainly is fine moon gems are so used to the lifestyle on the moon that i wouldn't bet on them being unafected
Carson Parker
Again, stop taking it literally and take it for what it's supposed to represent, two individuals completing the other to obtain Nirvana.
Dominic Morgan
>This is how we did it in 2001-2006 and we likesed it Hear me out, how 'bout no?
I don't necessarily mean the lunarians disappearing being the positive thing, just the fact that it's very clear progress for Phos after everything else has seemingly failed.
First scenario seems most likely I think, though I wouldn't rule out the second scenario just yet considering how Ichikawa likes to surprise the audience.
Jaxon Ramirez
That's assuming it works. I honestly do not believe that it's going to work, but this time I think it's going to be because of Phos instead of Sensei. (Leading back to the fact that Phos still lacks certain parts of the seven treasures. (Namely a real pearl, instead of the false pearl Phos has right now.)) And Phos fufiling his role as a teacher for Phos would be accurate to his assumed role, which is to teach the next Buddha, and guiding Phos to the ocean to retrieve what he is missing would fit with this interpretation.
Zachary Brooks
>And *Sensei fufiling his role as a teacher for Phos would be accurate to his assumed role, which is to teach the next Buddha, and guiding Phos to the ocean to retrieve what he is missing would fit with this interpretation. I messed up, I fixed it here.
Cameron Torres
Haha yeah no fuck you. I'll give you FMA but the vast majority are incredibly frustrating and subpar, in addition to fucking up.

By definition it has less aspects than anime. No motion, music or VAs. Or color for that matter beyond the few insert pages some manga get and covers.
But are you a dog with Akinetopsia? Moving pictures with color > b&w stills
Sebastian Phillips
No I am an aesthete who appreciates art not a child who gets distracted by anything colorful that moves in a low budget low IQ low effort morning cartoon.
They both have their advantages when compared to the other. But for Houseki, a lot of the anime scenes are done in a way that almost replicates or builds on Ichikawa masterful art and direction. I would give the manga a read for it's art if nothing else.
Hunter Mitchell
u-u-uhh I just want to hit Phos really hard, maybe even in the face.
Christopher Miller
>No I am an aesthete who appreciates art If you were you wouldn't be reading Japanese napkin scrawlings and you'd be going to art museums
Not that user, but I was an art student who regularly visited art galleries and HnK is one of the few series I genuinely enjoy for the art unlike any other.
Probably not. She actually seemed to care about Phos, meaning she is cursed to suffer and perish.
Aaron Morales
How will you procreate with your wife given she is made of solid diamond?
Caleb Powell
Our love will be eternal. We don't need to procreate unlike some other low tier life forms.
Jordan King
I'm scared for her. She didn't seem quite "there" in the last chapter. More suffering incoming for sure.
Tyler Hall
SEX = USELESS
Logan Bell
There's potentially a lot more than those two outcomes just because we have no idea what Sensei's really capable of or what will happen if Phos forces him to do something. Whatever happens short of something apocalyptic or Phos getting completely obliterated, which I don't think is likely to happen, Phos will move forward, but we could go in many directions from this point.
Robert Myers
I'm not sure the art is supposed to remind us of esoteric practices since Ichikawa indeed referenced Shingon, but tantric schools not so much. We can't really tell what she's going for considering the scene is interrupted, but I sort of agree with you about the moment being important and leading up to some disclosure of information. Not really sure about the sea coming up as a voluntary decision on anyone's part though. What's in the page is the visual importance accorded to Sensei manifesting the wish-fulfilling jewel, the Cintamani or Hoju no tama, both in chapter 77 and now. The houju no tama is a pretty common symbol in Buddhist shrines' architecture, but the bodhisattvas more strongly associated with it in paintings and sculptures are probably Jizo (so Sensei in the manga), Kannon and Amida. It's interesting that it works as both an abstract manifestation of a bodhisattva's power of blessing and a somewhat more real "object" that's like a pearl or jewel. Also Phos's arms form a vajra/kongo, again tying with Sensei's role. So Phos is possibly absorbing some of the cintamani's power or at very least having that power flow through his body -so that could end up modifying his body, either as an "energy" or a real object incorporated into him.
Even if you managed to live with a gem for a hundred years you would be but a second compared to their lifetime
Alexander Moore
I will crystallize my bones, cast of my flesh, exercise my spirit and become a gem, so I can be together forever with my true love Dia
Brayden Thompson
Fair enough. But then there would be no one to pray for me if you see where I'm going.
Mason Ross
Sensei is looking a bit shook there
Justin Turner
Who wouldn't be? """Phos""" is already basically an eldritch abomination at this point.
Luke Kelly
>not striving to achieve immortality so you can spend eternity with your cute gemwife >not reaching for godhood all for the sake of making her happy Weak.
Ryan Ward
I forgot: Jizo bosatsu is strongly associated with the houju no tama, probably more than any other hotoke in Japan, so his first activation scene manifesting it was a huge clue that yes, this really was the real deal with prayer and Sensei really has the role of Jizo in the manga, no matter how broken. To no one's wonder, he saves his helpless child from the netherworld as soon as he can. That said, if what this amidist manga misses is a true Amida, Phos incorporating something of the houjunotama in his body, that could be a hint that Phos will be the Amida Nyorai, the lord of the Pure Land that no other character can be -since Amida is usually represented with the wish-fulfilling jewel as well.
Does you wife and her trauma exist solely so Phos can have a friend who shares her mental illness?
Ian James
You are a dreg and will end up on moon.
Jeremiah Baker
rude you'll end up on land
Ayden Morris
No, I will end up on moon too, dreg.
Aiden Hill
I had a random theory spring into my mind: What if what the lunarians want isn't to disappear or to become human, but to take over the bodies of the gems for their own?
The gems are basically the ideal body for a lunarian: they're also effectively immortal, but don't feel mortal desires like they do whilst retaining their higher functions, and also look beautiful at the same time. They dusted the gems they captured not just to cover the moons with gemdust, but to try and kill off the inclusions that were inhabiting them. They're interested in the admirabillis because they can eat gem dust, and sent Ventricosus down to eat a whole gem to see if their inclusions would survive going through it.
They know Sensei is broken and can't pray for them, but what if he could separate the gems inclusions/memories from them and just leave an empty shell that they could potentially inhabit? They can't just synthesize entire new gems, they need inclusions but can't seem to get those quite right.
Also, the creepy part of this theory: Aechmea isn't actually interested in Cairngorm as a person, but for her body which he is looking to eventually take over. Of course, I'm probably entirely wrong but spitballing is fun
Anthony Thomas
I understand where you’re coming from but it seems a bit wierd. Wouldn’t killing of the inclusions defeat the point? If they wanted an empty, inclusionless shell they already have entire factories dedicated to producing artificial gems.
Dylan Long
Isn't Phos still missing a red gem bodypart? Doesn't that mean she'll steal parts of Cinnabar?
Ethan Ward
This is unironically one of the most bluepilled posts I've ever read on any board. How do you even function stuck in the shittier medium? Get the fuck out of Yea Forums
Charles Collins
Not even death could quench Phos's suffering. When Sensei fails at praying, what will Phos do? Kill the gems in their sleep?
Ethan Thompson
AAAAHHH That's horrific! Is this why Ichikawa is showing us how much Ghost fucked Cairngorm up by controlling him? To foreshadow this being the fate of gemkind? Probably not, but still... I only hope NuGoshe has fun fucking with her moon-host.
Yeah, I mean the Sea Arc is inevitable, because of both the true pearl(or could this end up being Phos' Cintamani?) awaiting Phos there and most likely because that's the only other place for Phos to go. And because I feel like Phos still needs to walk through Sensei's shoes before the series can end. If the prayer does work, I would like Phos to be in the Sea in a role very similar to Sensei's former role with the Gems, especially with how similar the two are with both Phos and Sensei having a kind of "aura" which makes their respective species follow and protect them. The sea Arc will most likely be the beginning of the end if Phos' does end up absorbing part of Sensei's Cintamani power in the next chapter. Just a quick question. What did you think about the fact that in chapter 77 the Cintamani disappeared instantly where as in chapter 79 it seemed to linger for much longer. (It was there and was almost about to disappeared after sensei parted his hands instead of being gone instantaneously.)
I'm pretty sure that's the most emotion he's expressed in the entire series
That right there is genuine fear
Aiden Diaz
Even if he's usually stoic he has shown some pretty scary faces, namely when scolding morga and goshe in the first chapter and when phos returned without arms
I wouldn't say it's fear, I would say it's more of a mix of shock and surprise more than anything else, especially since Phos was able to force Sensei to continue the prayer, which was something he never could have expected.
Isaiah Reed

You're looking a bit jaded user.

yeah, these threads are gonna be a benchmark in my life because I realize it might never see anything like it in a while. My most treasured part was memeing that Aechmea was David Bowie. I'll see you in the final chapter dudes.
Nicholas Allen
Ah Phos you goddamn dumbfuck, if only you had minded your own business everything would be ok.
Matthew Hernandez
This anime was shit and seeing this thread I'm not surprised a bunch of autists are the ones to enjoy it.
Andrew Turner
Amazing Ghost.
Oliver Green
How would you end it then, if the one we got wasn't good?
Jack White
Every time I see a Houseki thread with someone who have watched the anime and haven't read the manga I'm tempted to just spoil everything.
Sebastian Carter
reading the manga is such a pain in the ass since the newer chapters aren't on the regular site
John Ortiz
The chapters in mangadex is up to date.
Jordan Myers
OP here. Damn, I didn't expect you all to get so mad and eventually start shitposting at each other. Are these threads always like this?
I understand what you are all saying, though. I was not trying to say I had an alternative or or anything like that I was just shocked in the moment. I already started reading the manga so you can all stop being mad.
The guy who's mad is jadeposter, an user who is extremely agitated about the number of gemthreads being made. He also tries to fuck us up sometimes by making a thread with x-edition in the title so that mods delete the threads.
Connor Ortiz
Cute and funny spinoff when?
Brandon Allen
This. Anime literally got good only from 2007 onwards.
Caleb Cox
It's mostly because it's outside of the normal chapter release window and there's no chapter this month, so the descent into madness has begun
Jacob Jones
>Yeah, I mean the Sea Arc is inevitable, because of both the true pearl(or could this end up being Phos' Cintamani?) awaiting Phos there and most likely because that's the only other place for Phos to go. I think we're really not supposed to think about the shippou (7 treasures) in terms of bodyparts awaiting Phos or him still "missing" them. All of those are meant to reflect an outside relationship with other characters and an inner change for the better, even at the cost of losing something. It's fun to speculate because we know what's coming, but the shippou are really not supposed to be a checklist. That's also the reason why I maintain that Phos' pearl eye is already legit since it reflects both of those elements and is already a full pearl. "Lunarians=bad so synthetic pearl=fake and bad too" is really not something we're supposed to take, I think. Also there's no new really 'new' relationship for Phos to form with Sensei, is there?
>If the prayer does work, I would like Phos to be in the Sea in a role very similar to Sensei's former role with the Gems, especially with how similar the two are with both Phos and Sensei having a kind of "aura" which makes their respective species follow and protect them. I do think that we're eventually going to the sea and that this page is going to be eventually relevant, just as Phos's random acts of kindness always proved productive in the long term, but I don't think that praying is going to turn out effective anytime soon. We still don't know what praying does or why Adamant can't pray. We as well as the characters only learned that Phos is needed to do that as a way of conveying that he's the one who's most close to discover his true buddha-nature that's latent in all the gems. Phos tried to be a leader and present himself as already enlightened but completely failed. I don't think he'll be back to being a leader figure soon because of that.
>What did you think about the fact that in chapter 77 the Cintamani disappeared instantly where as in chapter 79 it seemed to linger for much longer. (It was there and was almost about to disappeared after sensei parted his hands instead of being gone instantaneously.) Nothing really aside from showing different purposes: in chapter 77 we saw that the sequence could now be activated but eventually ceased as the app crashed, in 79 it was more about showing how no matter how hard Phos asked, the 'praying power' would eventually wane, that's why she had to butt in and try to force Sensei to do that. However, the lingering shot of the dissipating hoju no tama could in fact suggest that Phos tried to 're-power' the process in an unsafe, dangerous way that might end up like a mad scientist experiment, instead having her connect to the cintamani.
For some reasons I think of Rei every time I look at Ghost. Is Ghost the only truly "did nothing wrong" character?
Evan Perez
Ghost wasn't in the story long enough to get the chance to do something wrong, like Antarc
Jeremiah Young
they are children you pedo
Andrew Kelly
They are many many times older than you are.

regardless of their actual age they stay children forever

Do you think that the gems fantasize about IMAGINING light, short-lived humans? >mostly osteoapatite and water >roughly 80 kg >imagine how fun it would be to manhandle a human's body nuGoshe and nuMorga are basically children and they used to be about 70. A 20 or 30 years old human would be an actual baby to them.
More like they all keep a childish quality in their society and their characters, but I wouldn't call Euclase, Lapis or Yellow particularly child-like. It seems to be a relative age thing, where Melon or Ame are still in the junior group, whereas the older ones are usually more dignified.
I know, but I prefered a shorter expression instead of explaining the difference between exoteric or tantric Buddhism as the set of those schools focusing on meditation through the sum of physical positions and focus on 'mystical' concepts passed on through a master-disciple relationship and the first thing that comes to mind for a Westerner hearing about tantric practices which is spiritual elevation through joining bodies
Gem society is vastly different from our own society, and therefore the qualities that separate "the young" and "the old" will also be different. The gems might seem childish in some aspects since they are not aware of things that our own society possesses, but in some others they are capable of thinking like "adults" - sense of responsibility, long-term planning and simple cost-benefit analysis.
The only worthwhile contribution from the last two weeks' worth of threads was learning that these totally not generals are filled with literal newfags from other sites who never browsed ghost or a Madoka thread in the last years Well, that and RUAAA
Mason Taylor
>not browsing madoka threads makes you a newfag That being said, you should already have noticed months ago that tumblrfags and redditors come to these threads around leaks time to fetch leaks to repost on their site.

Still can't wait for season 2, I want to suffer in 3D
Joshua Stewart
Jade punching phos, fragments everywhere... would be nice looking
Season 2 would need a strong directing since the later volumes are full of stuff that technically takes a short panel time in the manga but is actually longer in time, and stuff that takes a long panel time in the manga but doesn't actually last long.
The synthetic pearl represents the false wisdom that Phos has gained from the Lunarians, the fact that it's false will obviously lead Phos down the path to find true wisdom which will culminate in Phos getting a true pearl from the Slugs in the Ocean, because of the piece that Phos gave to Varigeteus.
We know that what was already theorized before that Phos was shown and acted like he had already achieved some sort of enlightenment when he first returned to earth, even though that was not true. This is seen in the pose that Phos takes when he first returns to earth. The wisdom Phos needs has to come from within from himself, if he ever wants to move forwards.
Jose Martinez
Who would even voice Lapis? And would Phos' VA just imitate that VA with Phos' mannerisms mixed in?
I should also mention that symbolically that it might make more sense for Phos to have both the true pearl and the synthetic pearls, since it would be symbolically of Phos being able to see the perspective of all 3 parts of man.
Ethan Flores
Actually compilation later because my work is taking longer than expected.
Why is this monthly anyway? The art isnt even that good.
Jeremiah Watson
>The art isnt even that good. Purely subjective. I personally find HnK's art style being a thing of beauty of its own.
Leo Morris
You also probably want to fuck gems as well, so your degenerative opinion is discarded.
Charles Gray
Wow rude
Easton Parker
same but we need more pages to speed this arc along

Published in a monthly magazine The real question is why it's only about 20 pages per chapter

Dont get upset, I was just joking.

This is why anime is trash, the show is good but thats irrelevant, it'll never be finished, its just one long advertisement for the manga just like 99% of adaptations of manga or LN's. In the case of Houseki the pacing and visuals of the anime are so different you pretty much have to go back to chapter 1 of the manga to not be totally thrown off.
Brody Watson
>the show is good but thats irrelevant, it'll never be finished Why can't the show be good and for it to just stay that way?
Most of the starting parts of Housek aren't even about the mystery but more about Phos's development so griping about how it doesn't cover everything feels superfluous in the grand scheme of things.
>In the case of Houseki the pacing and visuals of the anime are so different you pretty much have to go back to chapter 1 of the manga to not be totally thrown off. Starting the manga from chapter 1 is absolutely the best way to go about it if it's the original source. Why the hell would you want to just jump in between? In this case, you get the experience both the anime and manga in all its splendor.
Not with you but I always find it strange that newfags finishing the show instantly ask "wait that's it??? buh nothing ever actually happened!". No, Phos's story happened and though it might not be over, it still told a huge chunk of it including the most devastating loss she ever experienced. What happens in the story, be it minute interactions or introspection, is still counted as plot especially when the narrative blatantly focuses on them. Just because some lore wasn't revealed, doesn't mean there wasn't anything going on.
Jaxon Lopez
Its a personal thing, I put a lot of weight on endings, without a conclusion to a story I find it hard to get invested.
Leo Stewart
I'd posit that endings are important only if the narrative purposefully sets itself up for it.
The HnK anime doesn't really set itself up for a blatant ending and only serves to have Phos question his place in the universe right from the start. The irony comes from how he fnally gained strength at the cost of a fellow gem he had bonded with (Antarc). Even worse, when he finally gains strength to fight and be useful, it's at that point when he starts to question the status quo. It's a fairly strong character arc and a fitting open-ended resolution especially when you consider how Phos started out being jobless. In this regard, the anime actually cuts off at the best point before other plot points come into play.

They are like this because HnK make us living in an endless pain, some of us just adapted to it.
