She indeed wasn't in the original webnovel. But that doesn't necessarily mean anything.
Unlike most web novel to light novel transitions where authors basically just copy-paste and maybe move around some minor stuff or slightly improve the flow or the grammar, Overlord's author, Maruyama Kugane, went out of his way to offer something vastly different to his audience with it so web readers could find the new story was worth their money (he explicitly talked about it in an interview). He did so to the point one version is almost unrecognizable from the other.
I mean: Ainz had flesh & became an Empire noble, Mare didn't exist either, Jet was a thing, Gazef & Atrche lived, Narberal played Momon, Nphiria was a woman, Demiurge was a red demon, etc.
Also, the amount of detail that has been put into Albedo and her sisters, with their backstory & mythological/historical associations with alchemy and the Philosopher's Stone and the seeds of [spoiler}Albedo's rebellion point to me she is no mere afterthought and could actually be massively important in the closing chapters of Overlord.
